Tuesday a three course lunch was served by the HODS followed by a raffle where everyone won a prize. The day was finished off with Reiki.
Wednesday we all enjoyed Portugal Day & loved the Portuguese custard tarts & everyone had a new coffee cup.
Thursday the team were making their own flower arrangements in jam jars
Friday was of course fish @ chips & the most wonderful neck massages from Neuza Wellness & Massage
Tonight is the summer party

D Day commonly refers to the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II on June 6, 1944.

It was the start of Operation Overlord, in which forces from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other Allied nations landed on the beaches of Nazi-occupied France. The operation is considered one of the most important military campaigns in history and helped lead to the liberation of Western Europe from German control.
We remembered D Day with Jolly Old Time & D Day Dollies over the weekend
Lots of singing all the old war time tunes

National Fish & Chip Day 2026 🇬🇧

Today, Friday 5 June 2026, is National Fish & Chip Day, celebrated across the UK on the first Friday of June each year. The day was created in 2015 to celebrate one of Britain’s most iconic dishes and to recognise the fish and chip industry.
* Fish and chips became popular in Britain during the 19th century.
* During both World Wars, fish and chips were among the few foods not rationed.
* There were over 35,000 fish and chip shops in the UK during the 1930s.

🍎 World Cider Day is celebrated every year on 3 June and is a global celebration of cider, its history, craftsmanship, and the communities that produce it. It was launched by the Association of Apple Wine and Fruit Juice Press Houses in Hesse, Germany, and has grown into an international event enjoyed in many cider-producing countries.
Cider is enjoyed in more than 20 countries and is known by different names, including cider, cidre, and sidra. It can be still or sparkling, sweet or dry, and is often closely linked to local traditions and orchards.
To celebrate the day the residents tried different varieties of cider & cider cakes.

Italy’s National Day is the Festa della Repubblica (Republic Day), celebrated every year on June 2. Of course we had to dress up for the occasion & enjoy Italian food & residents made tiramisu.
It commemorates the June 2–3, 1946 referendum, in which Italians voted to abolish the monarchy and establish a republic after World War II.
* A major military parade takes place in Rome along the Via dei Fori Imperiali.
* The President of Italy lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria.
* The Italian Air Force aerobatic team, Frecce Tricolori, performs a flyover, leaving trails in the colors of the Italian flag.
* Public ceremonies, concerts, and cultural events are held throughout the country.
