Reflecting on a fantastic training day at St John's School, Surrey.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of delivering First Aid training to the teachers and support staff at St John's School in Surrey.
It was one of my first courses following the latest Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) guidance updates, so it was a great opportunity to introduce the new recommendations while helping delegates build confidence in dealing with real-life emergencies.
The engagement throughout the day was fantastic. Everyone was keen to get involved, ask questions and develop practical skills that could one day make a real difference.
One of the things I enjoy most about my role is working with organisations that genuinely invest in the safety and wellbeing of their staff and pupils. St John's School certainly demonstrated that commitment, and it was a pleasure to spend the day with such a welcoming and enthusiastic team. Every course is another reminder that good first aid training isn't just about meeting requirements—it's about giving people the confidence to act when someone needs help most.

🚗 Big news for learner drivers – and for all of us!

From 2026, driving theory tests will include new questions on CPR and defibrillators for the first time. This is part of the government's Plan for Change to reduce preventable deaths across the UK.

The stats speak for themselves:
❤️ 40,000+ out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen each year
❤️ Fewer than 1 in 10 people currently survive
❤️ But when CPR and a defibrillator are used within 3-5 minutes, survival rates can reach 70%
