Do you struggle with tension headaches? 🤕

You may have heard of “cranial osteopathy” and think a “cranial” osteopath is an osteopath who only deals with problems regarding the “cranium” or head, or that
if they are suffering from conditions such as tension headaches that they need to see a cranial osteopath rather than a regular osteopath.

Cranial osteopathy can feel very relaxing for the recipient in much the same as reflexology can be.

As an Osteopath with particular interest in treatment of migraines and tension headaches we may use a combination of both cranial and structural Osteopathy to treat patients depending on their individual presentation.

What causes back pain?

Back pain is incredibly common, but the cause isn’t always obvious. Your back is made up of lots of different structures and pain can come from a few different areas.

Here are some of the most common causes:

🔹 Joints
The small joints in your spine help you move. If they become stiff, irritated or inflamed, they can cause sharp pain and stiffness in your back.

🔹 Muscles
Long hours sitting, poor posture, lifting or repetitive movements can cause your back muscles to become tired and overworked, leading to aches and discomfort.

🔹 Discs
The discs between your spine act like cushions. Sometimes they can bulge or become irritated, which can cause back pain and in some cases, pain that travels down your legs.

🔹 Wear and Tear
As we get older, changes in our spine are normal. Sometimes these changes can cause stiffness, inflammation and discomfort.

🔹 Injuries
Sudden movements, sports injuries, falls or accidents can strain the tissues that support your back and cause pain.

The important thing to remember is that back pain is not always something you just have to put up with. Understanding what is causing your pain is the first step towards managing it.

At HB Osteopathy, we assess your individual symptoms to help understand what’s going on and create a treatment plan to get you moving comfortably again.

Get in touch if you’d like support with your back pain.

At HB Osteopathy, we prioritise understanding our patients on an individual level.

We recognise that each person brings a distinct combination of symptoms, medical background and lifestyle factors.

By comprehending these aspects, we can provide a more precise diagnosis, going beyond merely addressing the affected area and delving into the root causes of your pain or limited function. Based on this understanding, we will create a tailored treatment plan to guide you towards the most favorable outcome.

As osteopaths, our job is to help you live a more pain free life and we do this by using articulation as part of our treatment.

We use the art of articulation which simply means 'the gentle working of a joint through a range of movements to improve mobility and flexibility'.

If you want to live a more pain free life with improved mobility and flexibility, get in touch.
