Friary Care has been celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, and this year's initiative of 'Action'!
We here at Friary Care consider the mental wellbeing of our residents and staff to be of the utmost importance. That's why Friary Care takes pride in celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week, and also this year's initiative of 'Action' which focuses on the idea that practical steps, even small ones, can help us feel hopeful, manage daily pressures better, and prevent mental health crises.
We've hosted a range of activities that have allowed residents and staff to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. We've had some amazing walks in the fresh clean air - a great chance to talk but also an opportunity to blow the cobwebs of the mind away. We've given goodie bags to members of staff to show our appreciation and to promote good mental health. We've had some lovely chats over coffee and cake, but we've also had two great music acts this week, the musical talents of Tina J, and the absolutely fantastic Danny Jukebox providing us some swing and Frank Sinatra classics!
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage staff, residents, family, friends, and everyone else to raise awareness for supporting good mental wellbeing, to remind others that need it that they are not alone, and also to fight the stigma surrounding mental health.
All in all, mental wellbeing has such a massive role in all of our lives, where everyone should always be free to talk about their feelings without fear of being stigmatised. Friary Care during this Mental Health Awareness Week, but also everyday, would like to remind you all that "it's OK to talk".
