๐ฃ๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ ๐ผ๐๐!โฃ
This begins when your cervix is fully dilated-10cm-and ends once your baby enters the world. This is the 2nd Stage. It can last a few hours or be much quicker. โฃ
โฃ
You will continue to have Contractions/surges and as your baby moves down through your pelvis you will start to feel pressure (like needing to poo), and the urge to push. For most women โPushingโ is an involuntary reflex. Many say they actually feel some relief when pushing. โฃ
โฃ
Itโs an important stage for baby too. The squeeze they experience helps get rid of mucus from their airways and prepares them for taking their first breath. โฃ
โฃ
The absolute best thing to do is to ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ผ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐๐. Listen to your body and what itโs telling you, what position you need to be in. When to push. When to breathe!โฃ
โฃ
Position is key. Ideally, you wonโt be on your back.ย Keeping upright or ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ your back helps to open your pelvis and create more space for baby to pass through. Remember that the area at the bottom of your spine is designed to flex and move, to literally open up (the Rhombus Michaelis). It gives your baby as much room as possible to descend through the birth canal. โฃ
โฃ
Also remember to go for a wee regularly. This is another space creator! โฃ
โฃ
When you are at the point of crowning (when babyโs head is coming out) it can sting like hell! โThe ring of fireโ moment. Warm water helps. Try to relax as much as possible. Taking shorter breaths, gently blowing out through your mouth, panting/candle blowing allows your babyโs head to be born slowly, giving the skin & muscles around your perineum time to stretch. โฃ
โฃ
Once the babyโs head is born, the rest of the body tends to follow with the next couple of contractions and your baby can be lifted up into skin-to-skin, those lovely first cuddles and the 3rd Stage commences ๐๐๐
