Another Moving & Handling refresher completed today! 👏

When something is part of your everyday work, it can be easy to become comfortable with it, which is exactly why refresher training is so important.

Today’s session gave our team the opportunity to revisit safe techniques, practise using equipment, ask questions and refresh the knowledge they use when supporting our clients every day.

For the people we care for, good moving and handling isn’t simply about getting from A to B. It’s about feeling safe, comfortable, respected and involved throughout.

We invest time in regular, practical training because we want our team to feel confident in what they’re doing, and our clients and their families to feel confident in us.

Well done to everyone who completed their refresher today! 👏

🧭 Signpost Sunday 🧭

This Sunday we’re keeping things very local and highlighting the wonderful work being done by Safe and sound care with Issy with her Safe Space Social & Safe & Sound Wellbeing sessions here in Whitchurch 💚

Sometimes what people need most is simply somewhere they can go where they feel welcome, understood and able to be themselves.

Issy’s sessions at Bargates Hall are creating exactly that.

💙 Safe Space Social provides a relaxed, inclusive and judgement-free environment for children, young people and families to meet others, enjoy activities and crafts, and feel part of a supportive community.

🌿 Safe & Sound Wellbeing is a new support group for people living with chronic illness – offering an understanding space to connect with others who genuinely understand some of the challenges that can come with long-term health conditions. Sessions include gentle activities, mindfulness and, importantly, time to simply chat over a cup of tea and some cake.

For people who may be feeling isolated, struggling to find somewhere they feel comfortable or simply wanting to meet others in similar circumstances, groups like these can make such a difference.

At North Shropshire Homecare, we believe being part of a community is an important part of our wellbeing. That’s why our Community Directory isn’t just about care services, we’re building a collection of local groups, charities and organisations that could make life a little easier for someone in our area.

🔎 You can explore our Community Directory here:

And if you know someone who might benefit from one of Issy’s sessions, please share this with them. Sometimes a simple signpost can be the start of finding the right support. 💚

There were plenty of headlines yesterday about social care... but what was actually announced?

With so much information being shared, it can be difficult to separate the facts from the headlines. If you work in care, receive support, or have a loved one who does, it's important to understand what these announcements could really mean.

That's why we've broken it all down in our latest blog. We explain what was said, what it could mean for people who rely on care, and what still remains uncertain.

Our aim isn't to add to the noise, it's to provide clear, honest information that helps people make sense of the changes.

What are your thoughts on the announcement? We'd love to hear your views in the comments. 💙

If you've ever wondered about what the systems we use can do and how they benefit you or a loved one, check out our latest blog post 😄

North Shropshire Homecare recently published a guest blog article written by CareLineLive about the digital tools they use every day: eMAR, GP Connect, real-time GPS monitoring.

As very happy customers of CareLineLive, they asked us to explain the tools behind their care, because they wanted their families to fully understand what's protecting their loved ones.

A few things worth knowing from the article:

🩺 GP Connect - carers can see current medications and allergies in real time. North Shropshire's Alice Allen called it a "godsend"

📍 Real-time GPS monitoring - because a missed visit down a quiet country lane can go unnoticed far longer than one in town

📱 Live updates via the Care Circle Portal - so family members always know what's happening, without having to call and ask

Here's what North Shropshire had to say:
"We are proud of the transparency, safety, and peace of mind it helps us bring to the families we care for."

This week's Signpost Sunday is all about Omega Ending Isolation Ending Loneliness

Loneliness can affect anyone. Whether it's an older person living alone, someone who has been bereaved, or a family carer who rarely gets time for themselves, having someone to talk to can make a world of difference.

Omega is a wonderful charity based here in Shropshire, offering free befriending services to people across the UK. Through their Chatterbox telephone befriending service and Letterbox pen pal scheme, they help people build meaningful connections, reduce isolation and remind them that someone is thinking about them. They also support carers who may be feeling isolated themselves.

At North Shropshire Homecare, we know that good care is about more than helping with day-to-day tasks. Emotional wellbeing, conversation and feeling connected to others are just as important.

That's why we've created our Community Directory. To make it easier for people across North Shropshire to discover trusted local organisations that can offer support when it's needed.

👉 Take a look at our Community Directory:

If you know someone who might benefit from a regular friendly chat or simply feeling a little less alone, Omega could be just the support they're looking for. 💙

Does anyone else worry about their parents or grandparents during really hot weather? ☀️

If you have a loved one who lives alone, it's natural to wonder whether they're drinking enough, keeping cool, or even recognising when the heat is becoming too much.

Sometimes all it takes is a few simple steps: a phone call, closing the curtains during the hottest part of the day, or making sure there's a cold drink within easy reach to make a real difference.

We've put together a blog with practical advice to help older adults stay safe during the warmer months, especially those living in our rural Shropshire communities.

If someone you care about lives alone, we hope you'll find it helpful. 💙

When people think about great home care, they often think about kind carers, friendly faces, and compassionate support, and they're absolutely right💙

But behind every great care visit is technology that's helping us provide safer, more responsive, and more personalised care. For us, we use CareLineLive's platform to do this.

From securely recording care notes in real time to keeping families informed and ensuring our team has the latest information at every visit, good digital care isn't about replacing people. It's about giving our carers the tools they need to deliver the very best support.

In our latest blog, we explore what good digital care really looks like and more importantly, why it benefits the people receiving care and the families who trust us with their loved ones. We are so grateful to Nathalie from CareLineLive for providing this guest post to demonstrate these benefits.

Technology will never replace compassion, but when used well, it helps us deliver even better care.

“A few months ago, as part of a marketing campaign our team at CareLineLive was working on, I watched a carer at work in someone's home. What struck me wasn't the technology, it was how little of it you actually saw.”

There is no better measure of the care we provide than the words of the people who receive it.

This feedback was shared during our most recent CQC inspection and means so much to our team. Feeling safe, respected, and cared for is at the heart of everything we do, especially when supporting people with more complex care needs such as hoisting.

Thank you to everyone who puts their trust in North Shropshire Homecare every day. 💙
