Another great evening raising awareness of CPR & using AED’s……..

❤️❤️ CPR/Defib Training Session - Fitzwimarc School - 19 October ❤️❤️

Yesterday evening, our charity - in conjunction with Pronto Training, Thorpe Bay Rotary Club and Rotary Leigh on Sea, Essex - held another CPR/defib session for local residents

Almost 25 people learned the vital skills of CPR (for adults, children and babies) and how to use a defibrillator correctly and safely

Our thanks to everyone who attended the session, to Pronto Training for providing an engagement, information evening (as always) and for the representatives from the Rotary Clubs who were there to help

📢 A NEW CONSULTATION: ADRENALINE NASAL SPRAYS IN SCHOOLS

Today, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has launched a UK-wide consultation on whether schools should be allowed to purchase and hold spare adrenaline nasal sprays for use in anaphylaxis emergencies.

This is another important development in school allergy safety.

Under the proposals, schools would be able to choose whether to stock adrenaline auto-injectors, adrenaline nasal sprays, or both.

Why does this matter?

Adrenaline is the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis. Having emergency medication available, and staff who are trained and confident to use it, can save lives.

Following the introduction of Benedict’s Law in England this September, which established new requirements for spare adrenaline pens, allergy training and school policies, this consultation represents another step in ensuring that school allergy protections keep pace with medical developments.

We welcome the opportunity to explore how newer adrenaline devices can be made available in schools, while ensuring that training, clear guidance and safe implementation remain central.

The consultation is open to parents, school staff, healthcare professionals and the wider public across all four UK nations.

"I'd completed 83 parkruns and several 10k races, so I had no idea that anything was wrong with my heart."

In March 2024, Jason collapsed after finishing Albert parkrun with his family and suffered a cardiac arrest.

Two off-duty paramedics who were taking part in the event immediately began CPR, while the Run Director retrieved a defibrillator that was registered on The Circuit and located just metres away. Jason's heart had stopped for three minutes before a shock helped restart it.

Jason says: "I am alive because people acted immediately, performed CPR and had a defibrillator nearby. Without those things, I wouldn’t be here.”

Every Saturday, parkrun brings communities together. In Jason's case, it helped save his life.

This Restart a Heart Day, take a few minutes to learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator. And if you're responsible for a defibrillator, check that it's registered on The Circuit. It could save a life ❤️

Our team are out today across Essex & London teaching these life saving skills.
