Dementia can look different from one moment to the next💜

This video shows just how unpredictable dementia can be. At the beginning, our wonderful service user is feeling sad, confused, and disorientated. Later, we see a completely different moment as she begins singing and sharing her beautiful spirit.

Dementia is not a straight line. Some days, hours, or even minutes can bring significant changes in mood, awareness, and communication. These changes can be challenging for both the individual and their loved ones, but they also remind us of the importance of patience, understanding, and person-centred care.

Behind every diagnosis is a person with a lifetime of memories, emotions, and unique experiences. Moments of joy, connection, and music can still shine through, even on difficult days. 💜

Today, we’re honoured to share a powerful video featuring one of our service users, who wanted to help others better understand dementia.

In this video, she talks about how she doesn’t know too much about dementia, other than her mum had it. Her story is especially touching because she does not realise that she is also living with dementia.

Her words remind us that dementia can be different for everyone, and that kindness, patience, and understanding can make a real difference. Every person’s experience matters, and every story is worth sharing. 💜

Moving & Assisting Training Day 💜

At Personal Choice Carers at Home we are committed to continuous learning and professional development, helping our team deliver the highest standards of care with confidence, compassion, and respect.

Our amazing team recently completed Moving and Assisting training, with Training 2 Care UK Ltd reinforcing the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe, dignified, and person-centred care every day.

This valuable training focused on safe moving techniques, reducing the risk of injury, promoting independence, and ensuring the wellbeing of both the people we support and our care professionals.

A huge well done to everyone who took part and continues to go above and beyond for our service users💜

The forget-me-not flower has long symbolized remembrance, enduring love, and the memories that continue to live within us.

This reflects the dementia journey through the life cycle of the flower itself, from the earliest signs of change to the seasons of adaptation, support, grief, connection, and love that remain.

Dementia changes many things.
But the need for dignity, compassion, patience, and meaningful connection never disappears.

Every journey is unique.
Every person deserves to be seen beyond the diagnosis. 💜

💙 A gentle reminder to stay hydrated 💙

With the recent warm weather, drinking enough water is more important than ever, especially for those living with dementia.

Dehydration can increase confusion, tiredness, and discomfort, so offering regular drinks throughout the day can make a real difference to someone’s wellbeing.

A small glass of water, a favourite squash, or a cup of tea can go a long way. 💧
