We’re holding Diabetes Support Sessions where you can drop in for friendly, informal support and advice.

📅 Thursday 24th September | 12.15pm–3.30pm
The sessions are open to people who have recently been diagnosed with diabetes and may be unsure about what to do next, as well as anyone living with diabetes who would like to come along and chat.

We can talk about:
🥗 Eating well with diabetes
❤️ Looking after your overall health
🧠 Your mental wellbeing
🩺 The importance of regular health checks
💬 Any questions or concerns you may have

There’s no need to feel like you have to manage everything alone. Come along, have a chat and get the support you need. 💙

Following on from our previous update, we can now confirm our official go-live date for Accurx! 🎉

📅 We will be making the switch from Ask My GP to Accurx from the week commencing Monday 21st September 2026.

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞: 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦

We want to let you know about an upcoming change to how you contact us online. As part of a Greater Manchester-wide initiative, all GP practices across the region will be transitioning from Ask My GP (or any other platform they currently use) to a new online consultation platform called Accurx.

What does this mean for you?🤔
1. We are still on Ask My GP for now: Our current Ask My GP platform remains fully operational, so please continue to use it to reach us for medical and administrative requests.

2. The Switch is Coming: We are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for the migration. Once our new Accurx platform goes live in AUGUST, we will update you closer to the time with a link to sign up.

Benefits of the New Accurx Platform✅
We think you will love the simplicity of the new system! One of the biggest advantages is that you do not need to create an account, nor will you ever have to remember a username or password to submit an online request. It’s quick, straightforward, and secure.

🔥 Do you suffer from heartburn, acid reflux or indigestion?

A major NHS and Cancer Research UK-backed study, supported by Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is now recruiting volunteers in Wigan to help improve care and treatment for people living with these symptoms.

✅ Men aged 55–79
✅ Women aged 65–79
✅ Have regular heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, or take medication for these symptoms

It only takes a few minutes to sign up and you'll be contributing to important research that could improve lives and help detect serious conditions earlier.

Joining Heartburn Health will give you the chance to take part in ground-breaking research and make important discoveries about reflux and related health conditions, possible.
