North Wigan Primary Care Network are proud to be part of the Haigh Hall Park run take over on Saturday the 11th July 2026

If you aren’t already familiar, parkrun is a positive, welcoming, and inclusive community that has 5k runs every Saturday morning at 9am all across the world.
There’s no time limit and no one finishes last. Run, jog, or walk – it doesn’t matter. The focus is on fun and being active

Our colleagues from Health First will be on hand to deliver the health checks to those who want them.
If you’re new to parkrun, all you need to do is register for a barcode on the official website so you can take part. Participants are also asked to wear blue for the takeover events, in tribute to the NHS.

🚫 What’s changing (from 1 April 2026)

• You can no longer order repeat prescriptions directly through your local pharmacy.

✅ What you can still do

You’ll still be able to request your repeat medication using these options:
• 📱 The NHS App
• 💻 Patient Access online services
• 📦 The repeat prescription box at your GP practice
• ✉️ Post your request to your GP practice

💡 What this means in practice
• Pharmacies will still dispense your medication, but they won’t handle the ordering step anymore.
• You’ll need to request prescriptions directly from your GP practice using one of the approved methods above.
