A new school year brings fresh beginnings — new classrooms, new routines, new friendships. But for many children, it also brings anxiety.
Anxiety in children doesn’t always look like fear.
It can show up as tummy aches, trouble sleeping, clinginess, quietness, or big emotions that feel “out of the blue.” These signs matter, and they’re often a child’s way of saying, “I need a bit more support right now.”
This is the moment to slow down and connect.
Ask how they’re feeling. Listen without rushing. Let them know it’s okay to feel nervous or unsure. Your calm presence helps them build confidence as they step into this new chapter.
If you’d like to understand children’s anxiety more deeply — what causes it, how it shows up, and how you can support your child — our podcast episode is a powerful place to start.
