There’s a reason your world can begin to feel different when your inner state changes. Your state of consciousness influences what you notice, how you interpret what happens, how you behave, and ultimately, how people respond to you.
When you’re living in fear, you tend to notice more things to be afraid of. You read into people’s reactions, expect rejection, and look for reasons to protect yourself. But when you come from a place of love, you start to see more of what’s possible. You notice connection, opportunities, and meaning in places you might have missed before.
Psychology can explain some of this through the Reticular Activating System (RAS) and selective attention with the way your brain is constantly filtering what you pay attention to. What you repeatedly focus on becomes easier to recognize.
The warmth you offer people can also influence the warmth they return. Over time, this creates a feedback loop between your internal and external worlds.
But spirituality takes the idea further. In non-duality, love isn’t a feeling, but closer to your natural state beneath the fear, conditioning, identities, and stories that create the illusion of separation. The more you return to this loving awareness, the less you experience yourself as something separate from life.
And this may change what alignment means. Alignment isn’t necessarily the Universe rearranging itself to reward you for thinking positively. It may be that as you become more connected to your true nature, you become more receptive to a life you previously couldn’t fully see.
Hence why the right book was on the shelf all along, but now you notice it. Or the right person crosses your path, but now you’re open enough to speak to them. An unexpected ending reveals a direction you couldn’t recognize while you were desperately trying to control the outcome.
Some people call these moments coincidences or synchronicities.
Maybe alignment is what happens when the distance between you and life begins to disappear.
You stop asking the Universe to mirror your love back to you and start recognizing that the love within you and the love you encounter were never truly separate.
