Wigan Manbassadors & Wildoria CIC are delivering a free 8 week programme in October aimed at Fathers and male carers of girls.

Some of the challenges for fathers and male carers of girls include:
➡️Navigating gender-specific issues: Fathers may feel less confident discussing topics such as puberty, menstruation, body image, relationships or online safety with their daughters.
➡️Challenges for fathers and male carers of girls include:
Navigating gender-specific issues: Fathers may feel less confident discussing topics such as puberty, menstruation, body image, relationships or online safety with their daughters.
➡️Changing father-daughter dynamics: As girls enter adolescence, fathers can struggle to balance protection, independence and maintaining open communication.
➡️Concerns about safety and wellbeing: Fathers often report worries about social media, peer pressure, sexual harassment, self-esteem and mental health during their daughters' teenage years.
➡️Role modelling gender equality: Fathers can have a significant influence on daughters' confidence, aspirations and views on relationships, which can create pressure to model healthy attitudes and behaviours. Research highlights fathers' important role in daughters' empowerment, psychological wellbeing and gender-role socialisation.
➡️Maintaining connection during adolescence: Evidence on UK fathers suggests that father-child relationships can change during adolescence, requiring fathers to adapt their parenting style and communication approach.

🚨🚨We’re moving our online requests over to Accurx! 🚨🚨

On Tuesday the 25th of August 2026, we will be officially switching our online request system over from Ask My GP to our new system, Accurx.

Our goal is to make it much quicker and simpler for you to contact us online. Focusing on this new platform also helps us keep the phone lines free for patients who cannot use online services.

A few key things to know:

🔍 Outstanding requests: If you have an open request in AMGP, please do not worry. We are still working through them as normal, even after the transition.

📞 We are still on the phone: If you need to call us, so long as we are open, we will always be available via the telephone.

⚖️ A fair system for everyone: To make sure everyone is treated fairly, we use the exact same process for every patient. If you call or use the online service, your request will be triaged according to clinical urgency.

Ask My GP will close to new requests on Monday the 24th of August 2026 at 18:30. From Tuesday the 25th of August 2026, Accurx will be our single online system.

Today is International Self-Care Day.🥰
With rising rates of chronic disease, mental health concerns, and health system pressures, self-care is more important than ever.
This day is a reminder for people to prioritise self-care and make it a part of their lifestyle.
When you take care of yourself to stay well, you are practicing self-care. Staying well includes taking care of your whole self: physically, mentally, and emotionally.
No matter what kind of self-care you practice, one is bound to reap benefits by making a small effort to care for ourselves. Having a healthier mind and body are the two primary benefits. Other benefits of self-care include feeling less stressed and being less overwhelmed. Self-care is especially important for caregivers. It’s easy for a caregiver to pour all of their time and energy into another person. Doing so eventually takes its toll. As the saying goes, “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.”
Self-care isn't selfish—it's what gives you the energy and stability to show up for your daily responsibilities and care for others
