Last week, residents from across Standish Care Village headed to Haigh Woodland Park for Wigan Council's Summer Sounds festival 🎶

There were plenty of acts to keep the residents entertained, including music from IMM-Music, stilt walkers, and a magician 🪄

It was a fantastic day for the residents to come together with other members of the Wigan community for some incredible festival fun 🤩

A huge thank you to the team at Wigan Council for organising such a wonderful event! 💚

Today we held the soft launch of our new community café, The Village Bean, located in the heart of Standish Care Village 🥳

It was a brilliant opportunity to test our brand new rijo42 coffee machine and gather feedback from residents across the Village. It’s safe to say the day was a huge success, with the overwhelming verdict being just how delicious all of the different drinks were. It’s certainly got everyone excited for the official launch next Friday! ☕️

Residents even had the chance to try out the machine for themselves and were amazed at how simple it was to use 🤩

The afternoon gave us a great insight into what the future of The Village Bean will look like, with residents from each home coming together in one space, alongside staff and loved ones, to enjoy delicious drinks and great company 🥰

A huge thank you to all the staff who helped the event run so smoothly, and to the kitchen teams for baking all of the delicious treats 💚

Last week, residents from Langtree enjoyed a day on the Peak Forest Canal thanks to a state-of-the-art narrowboat operated by the East Manchester Community Boat Project 🚤

Residents had the joy of taking in the scenery along the canal before stopping to pick up a fish and chips dinner for the journey back 😋

Ron had a chance to steer the boat himself, and we're happy to report that everyone made it back to dry land safely! 😆

July's Together at The Village event brought residents from across Standish Care Village to Langtree's garden for a community sports day 🏅

The event was run by the Group's Personal Trainer, Freddy, who set up a range of exercises designed to be adaptable to each resident, whilst strengthening a range of muscles 💪

It was a brilliant day of fun, friendship and discovering hidden skills 💚

✨ Introducing The Village Bean ✨

We're so excited to finally reveal the secret behind the newest addition to Standish Care Village!

Located in the heart of the Village, The Village Bean is our new community café, serving a variety of hot and cold drinks, alongside pastries and light snacks 🥐

Everything about this new space has been thoughtfully planned with residents in mind, from the name – chosen by residents across the Village – to the individual drinks the café will offer 🫖

Residents will also have the opportunity to get involved in the day-to-day running of the café, with plenty of chances to help prepare and serve refreshments 🥰

It looks like residents at Lakeside Care Home had a fantastic afternoon when the Travelling Mullberries stopped by to perform 🤩

Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, sparking memories and creating moments of pure joy. It was lovely to see so many residents up on their feet, singing along and dancing the afternoon away 💚

Lakeside's Home Manager, Gail, will be joining staff from across the group as they take on our Three Peaks Challenge in support of Wigan & Leigh Hospice 🏔️

Gail is no stranger to a challenge for a great cause, having already signed up to run the 2027 TCS London Marathon for the hospice 🏃🏻‍♀️

Gail was encouraging the team through every exercise during last week's training session with Personal Trainer Freddy, and we're sure she'll be doing the same on the mountains 📣

How wonderful is this? 💚

We love seeing our homes come together, especially for incredible outings like these.

Residents from Langtree, Worthington Lake and Norley Hall were in for a lovely surprise when they arrived at Shevington Methodist Church's Music Café and spotted some familiar faces from across the group 🥰

We know how powerful music can be for our residents, so it was even more special to see them enjoying these moments together 🎶

Yesterday, staff from across Standish Care Village taking on the Three Peaks Challenge came together for a group training session with Personal Trainer Freddy 🏔️

The session featured a circuit of seven exercises, each designed to help prepare the team for climbing the mountains. From deadlifts to strengthen the muscles used on steep terrain, to planks for core stability and bench step-overs to improve balance on uneven ground, every exercise had a purpose 💪
