A client came in wanting to understand why her body seemed to be fighting her.
Her eyesight was declining. She had aches and pains that never seemed to completely go away. Allergies. Weight she couldn't seem to lose. And underneath all of it was a feeling that there was something she wasn't quite seeing about her life.
During the session, she was shown a lifetime as a simple man living in a village. Nothing glamorous. No titles. No importance. Just people working together, growing food, taking care of one another, and doing what needed to be done.
What struck her wasn't the danger surrounding their lives. It was how little they obsessed about it.
They knew bad things could happen. They prepared for them. Then they went back to living. They laughed. They danced. They enjoyed each other. There was no spending every waking minute worrying about what might happen next.
Then she was shown another life that couldn't have been more different.
This time she was a warrior woman. Strong. Athletic. Fast. Powerful.
She loved moving her body. Loved the challenge of becoming better and stronger. She had confidence/pride and she took up space in the world.
That part caught my attention.
Because the woman sitting in front of me in this lifetime had spent years making herself smaller: Physically. Emotionally. Energetically.
The Higher Self eventually got right to the point.
It said she had spent so much of her life preparing for danger that she forgot she was allowed to live.
That sunk in.
Because I think a lot of people do that.
We spend years watching for problems. Watching for disappointment. Watching for betrayal. Watching for what could go wrong. And after a while, the body never gets the message that the danger has passed. It just keeps standing guard.
The Higher Self explained that much of what she was carrying physically was connected to years of tension, responsibility, grief, and hypervigilance. Always watching. Always scanning. Always preparing.
And then came the part that really stuck.
The Higher Self said, "You have spent enough time preparing for danger."
Not that danger doesn't exist.
Not that life is always easy.
Just that there comes a point where preparing becomes living's replacement.
And that's not what we're here for.
By the end of the session, the message felt surprisingly simple.
Move your body.
Take up space.
Trust yourself.
Stop shrinking.
Let joy have a seat at the table again.
Because sometimes healing isn't about becoming better at protecting yourself.
Sometimes healing is finally realizing you don't have to spend your whole life standing watch.
