☀️ A huge thank you from all of us at Woodthorne! ☀️

We would like to say a massive thank you to all our families, friends and staff for your wonderful support at our Summer Fete on Saturday.

We had a fabulous day, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and having such a great time together. ❤️

A special thank you to the families who very kindly made donations — your generosity and support really is appreciated.

And an extra special thank you to the members of our team who volunteered their own time to help make the day such a success. We really couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a lovely day for our residents.

Introducing The Woodthorne 15 ❤️

Every day at 11:15am, our whole team — care staff, seniors, management, domestic, kitchen and maintenance — will down tools for 15 minutes and spend meaningful time with our residents.

No routine tasks. No rushing. Just time to sit, chat, share a cuppa, look through photos, listen to music, take a little walk, have a laugh, hold a hand — or simply be present.

Because sometimes the smallest moments mean the most. ❤️

15 minutes. Every day. For the people who are the reason we are here.

We were privileged to welcome Deena Heaney MBE, award-winning Dementia Care Specialist, to Woodthorne Care Home this week to deliver dementia training for our team.

The session was both inspiring and informative, and we were delighted to receive such positive feedback from Deena about our staff, praising their enthusiasm, positivity, and commitment to implementing best practice.

At Woodthorne Care Home, we are passionate about continually improving the support we provide for people living with dementia. As a result of this valuable training, we are pleased to be working closely with Deena over the coming months to further develop our dementia care practices and enhance the experience of our residents.

We also recognise the importance of supporting families on their dementia journey. We are therefore looking forward to welcoming Deena back to the home soon for an informal session with relatives, providing an opportunity to share knowledge, ask questions, and gain a greater understanding of dementia and the support available.

A huge thank you to Deena for her guidance, expertise, and encouragement. We are incredibly proud of our dedicated team and their commitment to providing compassionate, person-centred care every day.

I just want to say a huge thank you to my Woodthorne family for making my 50th birthday so special 💛

I really do mean family – the love and effort from our staff, residents and their families was just so kind and thoughtful. It meant so much to me.

One of our lovely families made the most beautiful cake, which was such a kind thing to do, and our residents absolutely loved it. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves, singing, dancing and smiling all day was the best part for me.

We also had a fantastic singer and a lovely buffet, and the whole day just felt so warm and happy.

I was truly touched by all the gifts and kind gestures – it was a bit overwhelming, but in the nicest way.

It really made me stop and think how lucky I am – next year I’ll have spent half my life at Woodthorne. Being able to help shape the home, make a difference, and create happy moments for our residents means everything to me. Celebrating days like this together brings me so much you joy . ❤️

I feel so lucky to be part of Woodthorne. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, it really meant the world to me 💕 ###

Good Friday and Bank Holiday Easter fun at our home 🐣🌷

A big thank you to all the wonderful families who supported us – we truly had a fantastic, fun-filled weekend together!

There were plenty of delicious cakes, lovely food, and lots of Easter eggs to enjoy 🍰🍫
Residents got creative making Easter bonnets and spent time planting beautiful spring flowers and sunflowers 🌼🌻

So many smiles, laughter, and special moments shared 💛

A cheeky little midweek roast beef with all the trimmings today… because who says roasts are only for Sundays! 😋

Finished off with a warm homemade bread and butter pudding — the perfect sweet treat. Safe to say there were some very happy plates (and very full tummies)! 🍽️
