Wow what a day we’ve had today.. we started the day with some village walks before the sun got too hot.. we enjoyed walking around looking at various things one of the favourite things is to stop at the butterfly tree (so we call it) and watch all the butterflies coming and going. We had an outing to the seaside a huge thankyou to Lewis and ujjol for coming in on the day off to make this happen. We Really do appreciate it. Sorry cannot show all the photos. Due to consent but what I can say is the actual photos were beautiful they had an amazing time.
On Brancepeth we entertained ourselves with games inside as the weather was too hot for any more outings today. We started off with some memory games using lots of coloured balls, they all said this was challenging but fun. We then played ludo with a difference this one was horses we laughed and talked through the whole game, we stopped for an ice lolly and drink to make sure we kept hydrated then finished with a few games of dominoes and group chat about holidays and winning the lottery. When asked everyone said they’d had a really good day.

Bondcare is passionate about Equality and diversity so today we celebrated pride.. Making sure everyone is treated equally is something we truly do believe in.. Today we made this a colourful celebration where we had lots of fun and laughter the theme was love is love so we made it also about friendships. We all joined together from all other units to enjoy the entertainer, kev the care home singer he always goes down well. We had some lovely colourful cupcakes made from Lewis in the kitchen and a good old song and dance.. It was lovely to see everyone together having fun making friends. Management joined in the dancing and the residents were loving it.. we have really had the best afternoon.
We going to keep the theme for next week so watch this space for another eventful day.

This week has been LD week so Today we started our day by going to an LD opening day at Bishop Auckland football club there was lots of information freebies and snacks to keep the residents happy ohh and some of the staff enjoyed the refreshments especially the doughnuts ( Sandra and Lewis ) we stopped off on the way home for an ice lolly which was really needed in the heat.
On the afternoon we had the pleasure of prince the Shetland pony coming in to visit us and I have to admit they all loved seeing him. Thankyou so much for fetching him in it’s much appreciated. He was so well behaved and absolutely gorgeous we could have kept him.

Another day another outing.. Today we went on an outing to Bishop Auckland to do some shopping and have some lunch out, it’s lovely to see the residents enjoying shopping even looking at all the home products talking about what sort of things they like brings a smile. One of the lady’s purchased a new clock and bedding whilst the other lady just wanted to look at all the home and garden products. We then called in the local cafe for lunch and a chat. We talked about various things laughing and enjoying the time out. On the afternoon some of our lovely residents headed up to lumley court to have a few games of bingo, it’s definitely one of their favourite activities. It’s really nice to see them building new friendships with residents from other units whilst enjoying a few games of bingo a cuppa and a chat.

Today myself and one of our lovely ladies visited lanchester garden centre for lunch. Sometimes we take simple things for granted, A trip out for lunch can bring so much happiness we never stopped talking and laughing. We enjoyed a cheese and ham toastie with chips and her favourite thing about 4 cups of tea. After lunch we walked around the garden centre looking at all the lovely flowers and things for the garden. We stopped off and looked at all the fish which set off a conversation about how do they all live together! We laughed and had such a lovely day together she couldn’t thank me enough for taking her, seeing the smiles and joy really does give job satisfaction.

This week is national LD week at Bondcare we believe friendship and memories are an important part of our activities planners. Today one of our lovely gentlemen went to visit friends for lunch in Durham he visited where he used to live which brought back wonderful memories talking to staff about living there. When he got back he was talking about how special his day had been and how he had really enjoyed time with friends.

Today we started our early kings birthday celebrations. We had a lovely royal hydration trolly with cakes and scones with jam this all went down really well they loved the cream scones. We had lots of fun with a royal quiz with picture rounds and multi answer questions. We had discussions about the royals and later on we had a couple of photos with the king cutout.. what made me laugh was one resident when I said it’s the kings birthday on Saturday said who Elvis Presley.. ohh they do love Elvis.
Lots of smiles laughter and talking today.

So a little catch up from the last couple of days on brancepeth and willow.. yesterday we played a new game of rapid fire words. We offered categories and then
Asked questions from that category this was lots of fun and some the answers was funny. Great conversation starter and really helped the residents focus. Today we had the wonderful Sam Naylor in singing for us all. We joined the residents of lumley court and had an absolutely amazing afternoon with lots of singing and dancing the laughter today was lovely everyone seemed to really enjoy.
We also had an outing to brewers fair at Bishop Auckland which was lovely.
