Somehow trying for a baby has turned into another thing you have to get right, hasn’t it?
The perfect diet. The perfect timing. The perfect calm mindset. Tracking everything, optimising everything and lying awake replaying the month, looking for the mistake you must have made.
This is very typical of the ambitious, high achieving, professional, Type A women I often see in my clinic. It’s almost impossible to change this way of behaving, because you’ve found it to be so successful with things you’ve put your mind to in the past.
But I’ll be honest, because I’ve sat where you’re sitting. That level of vigilance is exhausting. After a while it stops feeling like ‘caring’ and starts feeling a lot like pressure.
So here’s your Monday re-frame. Letting go of perfection isn’t giving up. It’s loosening your grip on the things you were never in control of in the first place. You can look after yourself beautifully AND accept that you are not the reason this hasn’t happened yet. Both are true at once.
Swipe for five gentle things I give you permission for (my favourite is the third one)
