Complete rest isn’t always the answer.

For most soft tissue injuries, the current evidence-based approach is PEACE & LOVE - protect and manage the first few days, then gradually load and move as symptoms allow. Early guided movement tends to serve recovery better than staying still for weeks.

Do you have, or have you recently had, a lower limb injury?

I’m currently completing my MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Worcester and I need your help! My research is an anonymous online survey exploring pain intensity in lower limb injuries. It takes 5 to 10 minutes and no personal details are collected.

If you’ve had a hip, thigh, knee, shin, ankle or foot injury in the last 12 months and you’re aged 18 or over, I’d love for you to take part.

Link on Social Page or Comments. Feel free to message me if you have any questions before taking part.

Please share this with anyone who might be eligible, it really does make a difference!

Recovery isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes progress can feel slower than expected.

There are a lot of factors that can influence how well and how quickly the body recovers. Sleep, hydration, stress, how much you move between sessions - these things aren’t separate from your recovery. They’re part of it.

This won’t apply to everyone, and a lot of these things aren’t always in your control. But they’re worth talking about.

At Restore & Revive, we look at the full picture - not just what happens in the session.

If you’ve got questions or want to chat through how we can help, feel free to drop us a message.

Make sure you’re drinking enough in this heat. ☀️

Dehydration doesn’t just make you thirsty - it affects how your muscles work, how quickly you recover and how much pain you feel. Your body is already under more stress than usual right now.

Water first. Everything else second.

Part 3: Preventing tennis elbow 🎾

Desk job, day job, or racket sports - the prevention principles are the same: manage your load, watch repetitive gripping, and build forearm strength before it’s tested.

A brace can help short-term, but it won’t fix the underlying capacity issue.

Part 2: Tennis elbow 🎾

The name is misleading - only 10% of cases actually happen to tennis players. It’s far more common in manual workers, computer users, and other racket sports.

Resting it completely isn’t the answer either. Tendons need the right load to rebuild, not avoidance.

Case study: tennis elbow 🎾

A keen padel player came to us with persistent outer elbow pain that had been building for 8 weeks - sharp on gripping, worse after matches.

We found extensor tendon overload from grip technique and a sudden jump in playing frequency.

Treatment was a mix of sports massage, managed load (not just rest), and a progressive strength programme targeting the forearm and wrist.

6 weeks later: back to full training and competitive matches, pain-free.

If something’s been niggling longer than it should, get in touch - let’s sort it properly.
