Yesterday I visited Rolo, a cheeky 6-year-old Dachshund, for his very first massage session 🐾❤️. Rolo doesn’t have an injury or any age-related issues, but that doesn’t mean massage can’t be beneficial. Regular maintenance massage can help keep muscles supple, support circulation and mobility, and allow us to spot small changes in muscle tension or movement before they potentially become bigger problems. With Dachshunds being particularly prone to spinal issues, it’s especially useful to become familiar with what is normal for each individual dog.

Rolo was understandably a little wriggly on the couch to begin with - completely normal for a first session! With a little help from his owners to settle him, he soon relaxed and enjoyed his massage. And just when I thought I’d finished for the day, his VERY big Doberman sister, Loka, decided to hop up for a little bit of fuss of her own!

🐾 Meet Axel 🐾

Axel the Doberman is a very special client of mine - not only because he’s utterly gorgeous, but because he was also my very first massage client! ❤️

At 13, Axel’s mobility isn’t quite what it used to be, but regular massage has made a noticeable difference to his comfort and movement. After a treatment, he is often much more mobile, gets up and down more easily and can manage the stairs with greater ease. It’s so lovely to see him enjoying that little bit of extra freedom and comfort. 🥰

And of course, no massage for Axel would be complete without his little Dachshund friend Rolo attempting to get in on the action! 😂🐶

I’m incredibly grateful that Axel was there at the start of my canine massage journey, and it’s a privilege to be able to help him feel his best. ❤️

I’ve been lucky enough to treat these two little flyball superstars over the last few months 🐾❤️

Skye and Astin are kept very busy with training and competitions, so regular massage is a lovely way of supporting them alongside all that high-speed activity.

Both dogs are absolute stars and the cuddliest and lickiest of clients! 🥰

Thank you to their lovely owner Avril for trusting me with them. ❤️

🐾 Foxham Family Dog Show 2026 🐾

What a fantastic day!

I was delighted to have a stall at the Foxham Family Dog Show last weekend. It was wonderful to meet so many lovely dogs and their owners and chat about the benefits of clinical canine massage. ❤️

A huge thank you to Trudie Stait and other organisers for such a brilliant event and for having me along. It was a pleasure to be part of it! 🐶❤️

🐾Is your dog slowing down, stiff after walks, or just not moving like they used to?

As dog owners it’s hard to know how to help when our dogs can’t tell us what’s wrong, but subtle changes in movement, behaviour or posture can often be signs of muscular discomfort.

I’m a qualified Clinical Canine Massage therapist based in Chippenham, and I can help dogs feel more comfortable in their bodies through targeted massage therapy. I am fully insured and a member of the Canine Massage Guild.

Massage can support dogs with:

• Stiffness or reduced mobility

• Recovery from injury or surgery

• Arthritis and age-related changes

• Preparing for, and recovering from, sports and activities

My aim is to help your dog move more freely, feel more relaxed, and enjoy their daily life to the full. 🐾

If you’re curious as to whether massage therapy could help your dog, please feel free to message me for a chat, with absolutely no pressure at all. Alternatively, you can visit my website for more information: https://www.wessexk9massage.co.uk/
