Are you in the UK and do you have a baby under 12 months? However your baby is fed or your household income we'd really appreciate your thoughts on how we can better support families.

We are conducting some research to understand how the cost-of-living crisis and financial difficulties are affecting parents’ ability to access formula milk for their baby.

There has been lots of discussion in the media about this issue and what support parents need if they find themselves unable to buy formula for their baby. Our research has been exploring the impact on parents of this and we’ve had a great response, thank you.

We would now like to ask all parents with a baby aged 12 months or younger their views on how we could best support access to formula milk in a financial crisis, regardless of how you are feeding your baby or whether you have experienced financial difficulties.

We are looking for parents to complete a survey that will take between 10 – 20 minutes depending on how much you would like to say. Our survey will remain open for the next 6 weeks from til June 15th.

We would like to hear from parents who are:

• Based in the UK
• Aged 16+
• Have a baby 12 months or younger

We hope that the findings from our research will raise further awareness of the impact of formula milk prices and be used by policy makers and those working with families so that parents can access formula milk more easily in the future.

April has been incredibly busy in my NHS role with an unprecedented amount of babies born. I discharged another April family today and was really touched to receive this note. It never fails to move me to think how a woman, just given birth, sore and emotional, has time or inclination to think about and purchase and write a card. Thank you!

Happy International Day of the Midwife. Some fun photos from over the years. It’s not all cuddling babies, wearing tinsel and drinking tea. Sometimes it’s running towards emergency buzzers, preparing parents for the biggest undertaking of their life, documenting, witnessing sadness, soothing wounds (of all kinds), writing safeguarding reports, or just listening… it’s nothing if fulfilling.

C - close, hold baby really close into youH - head free to tilt back, you wouldn’t want someone holding your head whilst drinking some water I - in line; head, shoulders, knees and toes! N - nose opposite nipple.This is a “text book” version of attaching your baby to the rest, and it’s not always this easy in reality.
