Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of Sally and Sam looks like?

Well, this week it has involved planes, trains, coffee, a lot of PowerPoint slides, and conversations that really matter.

We are halfway through our whirlwind trip to two European cities, and after successfully navigating the transport systems (always a small victory!), we’ve arrived safely and completed the first day of workshops.

Today we’ve had the privilege of speaking to three very different groups:

✨ Women under 40
✨ Women over 40
✨ Men who want to better understand women’s health and support the women they live and work with

Together we’ve explored everything from hormones and menstrual health to menopause, longevity, workplace wellbeing, and the impact women’s health can have on confidence, performance, relationships, and careers.

As always, one of our favourite parts has been the thoughtful, challenging, and insightful questions that spark genuine discussion and learning.

And in a rare turn of events, we’ve also managed to squeeze in a little time to explore the local culture, architecture, and food along the way. One of the unexpected perks of taking women’s health education on the road.

It’s a busy schedule, but seeing rooms full of people engaged, curious, and leaving with a better understanding of women’s health makes every early start and delayed train worth it.

Day one: complete.
One more city to go. 🇪🇺✈️

Sam’s back from holiday and quietly reflective after a lovely morning clinic….

Back in clinic this morning after a week away, and my final patient of the day was an absolute joy. ❤️

She sat down and said:

“Well, I’ve got lots of positive things to share…”

And honestly, those are some of my favourite consultations.

Not because everything is perfect. Not because symptoms have magically disappeared. But because you can see the difference that feeling better has made to someone’s life.

As doctors, we often focus on symptoms, diagnoses and treatments. But what women usually tell me is something much simpler.

“I finally felt heard.”

“I finally felt listened to.”

“I finally had time to talk things through.”

“I finally felt confident in the plan.”

Never underestimate how powerful that can be.

Seeing the benefits that appropriate HRT, education and healthy lifestyle changes can have on a woman’s confidence, wellbeing and quality of life is one of the greatest privileges of my job.

What’s really amazing, though, is that applying the HRT each day is often the easy bit.

The hard bit is making the lifestyle changes.

🔸 Finding time to move your body when life is busy.

🔸 Prioritising sleep.

🔸 Managing stress.

🔸 Changing eating habits.

🔸 Putting yourself somewhere on the endless to-do list.

That’s the bit that requires consistency, effort and determination. And I am continually impressed by the women who do it.

Today was a lovely reminder that small changes really do add up.

So here’s to women showing up for themselves, making difficult changes, and quietly achieving remarkable things. You are all far more powerful than you give yourselves credit for. 👏

“What’s one positive change you’ve made for your health recently that you’re proud of?”

Progestogens are a vital part of HRT for anyone with a uterus (or a history of endometriosis) - They protect the womb lining when you're taking oestrogen.

But with so many options now available, it’s no longer just a case of “one-size-fits-all.”

The landscape is growing and evolving, with newer choices like Nalvee® and Slynd® alongside trusted options like Utrogestan® and Mirena®.

🔑 The key?
Looking at the whole picture - your symptoms, history, preferences, risks, and priorities - and making an informed choice that fits you best.

Whether your priority is:
✨ better sleep
✨ lighter bleeding
✨ skin support
✨ mood stability
✨ contraception
..we can tailor the HRT to fit.

🤍 Understanding your whole story helps guide us to the right option. You're not meant to fit the treatment - the treatment should fit you.

Could you be peri-menopausal? 🤔

Most of the patients we see in our clinics present with some of these symptoms, and whilst this is not an exhaustive list, these are the most common.

You may not realise at first, symptoms can just creep up on you, you may have lots of other things going on and those around you may notice before you do.

Everyone is different. Advice and treatment needs to be individual for each patient.

If this sounds familiar, ask to speak to the GP at your surgery who specialises in women's health. Alternatively we are always happy to help. If you would like to book an appointment to see one of our Menopause Specialists, please see the link in our bio.

The psychological symptoms of the menopause are often the scariest. They seem to smash through all the different areas of our lives.

The fluctuations in our hormones during the perimenopause can result in us feeling fine one week and horrific the next, so these emotional changes can be difficult to anticipate.

It can affect our sleep, appetite and overall wellbeing; lead to the breakdown of relationships with partners, family, friends and colleagues; reduce our ability to do our jobs effectively; and we can become socially withdrawn, leading to increased feelings of anxiety and isolation.

So what can we do?

🌸 Talk to family/friends/colleagues - gain their understanding and support
🌸 Keep a mood diary - see if there's a pattern so you know what to expect when.
🌸 CBT - coping strategies
🌸 Mindfulness
🌸 Good nutrition
🌸 Regular exercise/movement
🌸 HRT

Remember you are not alone. Please ask for help if you need it.

4 cities. 2 days. One consistent theme - The women’s health gap is still very real.

We have spent the last 48 hours speaking across Europe — educating both women and men on women’s health, hormones, and the very real impact this has on work, wellbeing and long-term health.

What stood out most wasn’t just the engagement — it was the depth of curiosity in the room.

We covered the full landscape of women’s health — not just menopause, but:

* Menstruation and Cycle Literacy
* Fertility and Reproductive Health
* Polycystic O***y Syndrome
* Endometriosis
* Menopause
* And the longer-term risks we often don’t talk about enough — including Cardiovascular Disease, Dementia and Frailty

But most importantly, we spent time translating the science of women’s health into something women can actually use — to look after themselves and those around them.

Not abstract.
Not overwhelming.
But clear, actionable steps that influence health, energy, and long-term outcomes.

Because here’s the reality:

👉 Across Europe, only ~10–15% of women are using HRT — despite the majority experiencing symptoms
👉 In some regions, uptake is

- Mental: Are you staying sharp? Prioritise mental agility, memory, and stress management to stay mentally healthy.
- Emotional: How are your relationships and psychological well-being? A positive outlook and strong connections can enhance your life.

🛠️ Make Simple, Powerful Changes NOW:
- Small lifestyle changes, like quitting smoking, managing stress, and being physically active, can add years to your life while improving the quality of those years.
- Exercise, a balanced diet, and regular health check-ups target both long life and high-quality living. Why not get both?
