Anyone else have a circle of lush green grass in an otherwise very dry, yellowy/brown field? Not seen this before but according to Google it is a fairy ring and due to build up of nitrogen from rotting material such as tree stumps or other wood, possibly animals. Making me wonder if something was buried in the field...and what?! 🀣

How are my friends, clients and colleagues in the forest doing? I hope none of you are affected by the fire but if you are please get in touch. I may be able to help with emergency grazing. Thinking of you all and hope the emergency services manage to get it under control soon!

I feel as sad as this little bear posting this. I wrote it earlier but didn't post it as I thought it was a bit too moany but having just had someone point blank refuse to pay for an appointment they forgot, I have decided to post it.

*Why do I charge you when you miss your appointment or cancel with short notice?*

The simple answer: because it is my business and that is my rule.

But let me explain my reasoning behind it.

1) This is how I earn a living. Yes I am in healthcare and want to help people/animals but I can't do it solely from the goodness of my heart. Like you, I still need to pay a mortgage, pay bills, buy food etc. So when you miss your appointment, I am still at work but being paid nothing for it unless I charge you

2) You have prevented someone else from being able to have that appointment. Someone who may have really needed it so you have denied them the chance to get the help the want/need

3) This is my main one to be honest. RESPECT! You have booked my time. Out of respect for me as well as yourself, turn up and use it. I only want to help if you are as committed as me. If you do not value and respect me as a practitioner, don't book the appointment in the first place.

Now I do appreciate things happen that are beyond our control. If you do need to cancel last minute please do let me know and we can discuss it. I'm not totally heartless but it is MY choice as to whether I charge. I once had a lady who took the time to email me cancelling her appointment that day due to her husband being rushed into hospital and not knowing if he would survive. She still offered to pay! She is the loveliest and most genuine person who never misses an appointment. There was no way I was charging her. Now if she can do that with all that stress and panic going on, the least everyone else can do is turn up and not get grumpy when I charge you because you forgot.

So there you have it. Respect me and my time as well as other patients and yourself and I will do my utmost to help you achieve your goals.

This goes for my animal patients too.

Maybe if we cross all our fingers and toes we may get some rain this afternoon... 🀞🀞

While I feel for the child, I'm not sure why this needs to be investigated...The New Forest ponies are wild animals but will not just wander over to someone and kick them. There are signs everywhere telling people to give them space and not approach or feed them. I hope some good comes out of this incident and people start to realise the signs are there for a reason. Hopefully the child makes a full recovery 🀞

*******Me time********

I've been talking to lots of patients about "me time" recently as so many people are coming to the clinic feeling very stressed with day to day life. We all know the importance of "me time" but we all seem to suck at actually taking it. We justify it by saying we don't have time or we'll do it later and then never do as we spend ao much time making sure everyone else is ok and working hard to stick to deadlines. I was in the garden the other evening and saw this beautiful sunset and it instantly put a smile on my face. I stood and looked at it for about 5 minutes and felt really refreshed. So this post is to say that "me time" doesn't have to be a lengthy thing. Just 5 minutes here of there to appreciate some of life's most simple pleasures can be enough to give you just a little bit of a reset.
