Your skin is your canvas, and just like a painting, great skin isn’t about chasing every new trend; it’s about understanding the canvas you’re working with.

In this video, I’m talking skin health vs. skincare fads, why healthy, resilient skin should always come before the latest viral treatment, ingredient or quick fix.💙

Sunspots are a common result of cumulative UV exposure and can become more noticeable with ageing. While there are effective treatments to reduce their appearance, prevention is key.

Daily broad-spectrum SPF, seeking shade and limiting direct sun exposure are essential for protecting the skin and preventing further pigmentation.

For existing sunspots, targeted skincare and in-clinic treatments such as laser or light-based therapies may be considered, depending on your skin type and individual needs.

But remember, protect first, treat second!💙

Not all skin ageing happens for the same reason…

🧬 Intrinsic ageing is the natural ageing process driven by time, genetics and hormonal changes.
☀️ Extrinsic ageing is influenced by external factors — especially UV exposure, heat, pollution and lifestyle.

Summer can amplify these effects, with increased UV exposure accelerating collagen breakdown, contributing to pigmentation and causing oxidative stress. The good news? Extrinsic ageing is partly preventable. Watch to find out how! ✨

What exactly is oxidative stress and what does it mean for your skin?

Oxidative stress occurs when free radicals overwhelm the skin’s natural antioxidant defences. UV exposure, pollution and lifestyle factors can all contribute, leading to collagen breakdown, inflammation, pigmentation and loss of skin quality over time.

The good news? There are ways to protect your skin and support its natural defences. Watch to find out more 💙

Skin cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK, and we are seeing ever younger patients with skin cancer. The government has a consultation open right now on strengthening sunbed regulation in England WITH mandatory ID checks, supervised use, clear health warnings, and a ban on businesses promoting ‘health benefits’ of sunbed use that just aren’t backed by evidence.

Sunbeds are classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the WHO, the same category as smoking. Around 6 million people in the UK use them, and the risk climbs sharply the younger you start.

This consultation is open until 14th August, and it’s genuinely one of those moments where public input can shape real policy. If you care about sun safety, protecting young people, or just want stronger accountability from an industry that’s been under-regulated for years, please go and add your voice.

One of my favourite recommendations to patients for helping scars heal is Silicone Scar Gel. Whether you’re dealing with post-surgical scars, injury scars, or acne marks, silicone gel is one of the most evidence-supported topical treatments to help improve the appearance of scars over time.

As an aesthetic doctor, I often recommend Kelo-Cote to my patients because it’s so easy to use, dries clear, and creates a protective silicone barrier that supports optimal scar healing.

On a personal note, it’s also been a fabulous product for my daughter. Applying it has helped stop her from picking and scratching at healing areas, which is so important, as picking can worsen scarring and delay recovery. 💙

SKIN BARRIER SOS: OVER-THE-COUNTER HEROES.💫 A healthy skin barrier is the foundation of calm, resilient skin. Whether you’re dealing with dryness, sensitivity, acne treatments, or simply want to support healthy ageing, there are excellent over-the-counter options available for every age and skin concern, here are my favourites!

Look for ingredients like ceramides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to help restore hydration, strengthen the skin barrier, and reduce irritation.

The best product isn’t always the most expensive, it’s the one that suits your skin’s unique needs. In this continued series, I’m highlighting some of our favourite barrier-supporting products for different age groups, skin types, and concerns.💫💙

LPG Endermologie is a non-invasive treatment that combines mechanical stimulation with gentle suction to promote lymphatic drainage, improve circulation, and support natural detoxification.

It helps reduce fluid retention, smooth cellulite, and enhance overall skin tone, all while supporting your body’s own lymphatic system. Consistency is key, as results improve over a course of treatments, making it a safe and effective way to support both wellness and aesthetic goals.
