SPF is one of the most important parts of a skincare routine because it protects your skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which is the main external cause of:

* Premature aging (wrinkles, sagging, dark spots)
* Sunburn
* Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone
* Collagen breakdown, UV doesn't just cause
new damage, it actively degrades the collagen being produced.
* Skin cancers, including melanoma

There are two main types of UV rays:

* UVA: penetrates deeper into the skin and contributes to aging and pigmentation.
