Wishing Tom & Morgan from The Mad Butchers at Winkleigh / Devon the very best of luck as they take on an incredible 100km walk this weekend! 👣
They’re taking on this huge challenge to raise money towards Hazel’s future, whilst also raising funds for the incredible North Devon Hospice — supporting two very special causes that mean so much to so many. ❤️
It’s an amazing thing to do, and we hope you both have an incredible journey (and plenty of blister plasters! 😂).

But yep, NO GOING BACK NOW, even if the weather has apparently decided to turn against us… ⛈️😂
Evening guys & happy bloody Friday to every single one of you!
The last Bank Holiday until Christmas has arrived… which means so has our 100KM CHALLENGE. 🥲
Me & Morgi are certainly feeling the nerves tonight as we pack our survival bags ahead of what will either make or break us this weekend… and judging by the weather forecast, it could well be the latter. 🤣
But the ponchos are packed, we’ve got enough spare socks packed and absolutely nothing is going to stop us getting out there and completing a challenge that you lot have already made so incredibly special. 💙
A few important bits before the Fellowship sets off…
🥾 THE WALK
Tomorrow morning we start walking at 6AM and, God willing, approximately 100km later we’ll finish our journey back home in Winkleigh on Monday evening. 🙏🏻
For three days we’ll be posting updates as we go — the highs, the lows, where we are, how the feet are holding up and probably a few moments where Frodo & Gandalf seriously question whose bloody idea this was. 😂
We really hope you’ll follow along, watch, read, share and cheer us on because I think there are going to be moments over these three days when we’ll genuinely need you. 💙
🍺 MONDAY — COME AND JOIN US
Monday is the home straight and we’d absolutely LOVE to see as many of you as possible.
We plan to stop in Hatherleigh and Iddesleigh for a celebratory beer as Middle-earth slowly starts looking more and more like Winkleigh. 🍺🧙♂️
Then, battered feet permitting, we’re aiming to finally roll back into the village at around 5PM-ish.
If you’re around, come out and see us home.
Walk the last little bit with us. Meet us in the village. Have a beer. Give us a hug. Take the mick out of the state of us…
Just come and be part of it. 💙
Because this hasn’t just been our challenge from the very beginning — it’s been yours too.
🥩 AND THERE’S FOOD…
As if we needed another reason to make it home, the legendary combination nobody knew they needed — Ed The Log & Barry Butch — will be firing up the grill at The Seven Stars from 5PM. 😂🔥
They’ll be knocking out steak ciabattas & sausage and cheese baps, with the money giving our fundraising total one final push.
So come hungry. 🍻🥩
Tonight we’re nervous.
Tomorrow morning we’ll probably be even more nervous.
But underneath all of that, we’re just unbelievably excited to finally get out there and do what we’ve spent months talking about.
Whatever the weather throws at us, however much our legs hurt and however many blisters appear…
We’re getting home.
You’ve backed us every step before we’ve even taken one.
Now it’s our turn to start walking. 💙
