Celebrating the Life of David “Dave” Watson
Earlier this week, we had the honour of leading a truly special farewell for a much-loved gentleman from our community, David “Dave” Watson. 🕊️

In keeping with his family’s wishes, Dave’s final journey was made by horse and carriage, with beautiful floral tributes celebrating some of the things he loved most, including Formula 1 racing 🏎️, a cup of tea ☕ and a sausage roll.

These wonderful tributes were lovingly made by Dave’s family, and what an incredible job they did.

His Order of Service also reflected his passion for F1, making every detail of the day personal and meaningful.

It was an absolute honour to be entrusted with arranging Dave’s farewell and creating a service that reflected his life, his personality and the legacy he leaves behind.

Charlotte came bearing a thoughtful donation of toiletries, helping to support those in need within the local community. 🧴🧼💛

🇬🇧 Today marks the 81st Anniversary of VJ Day.

At W. Bailey & Son, we will be observing a two-minute silence at 11:00 AM to honour all those who served and sacrificed during the Second World War, especially those who fought in the Far East campaign. 🎖️

Often referred to as the ‘Forgotten Army’, the brave men and women who served in the conflict against Japan faced unimaginable conditions and showed immense courage, resilience, and determination. 🌏💂‍♂️

We remember them today, their service, their suffering, and their sacrifice, and we invite you to join us in this moment of reflection and gratitude. 🙏

VJ Day Celebration at Orchard House 🌺

It’s the end of the week, and Charlotte popped over to Orchard House for a very special afternoon as the care home came together to commemorate VJ Day.

The wonderful Ukulele Band filled the garden with music, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere as everyone gathered together.

There were delicious homemade refreshments, plenty of tea, coffee and cake ☕🍰, but most importantly, it was a time for good company, conversation and reflection.

VJ Day marks Japan’s surrender to the Allies in the Second World War, effectively bringing the conflict to an end. Today, it gave us an opportunity to remember the bravery, resilience and sacrifice of a generation who gave so much for our freedom. 🌹
