💗 That’s a wrap… for now! 💗

A huge congratulations to our lovely 3rd year student nurses Ellie & Laura as they finish up their final shift as students! 👩🏼‍⚕️👩🏻‍⚕️

We have absolutely loved having you both on the unit and watching you grow in confidence, knowledge and skills throughout your placement. We’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved and can’t wait to see where your nursing journeys take you! 🥰

To finish off their last shift, the girls treated the staff to Millies Cookies, with extra treats kindly donated by the lovely team at Millies Cookies in Livingston. Followed by a beautiful poem for our parents - such a thoughtful gesture 🍪🤍

Thank you for everything, girls. You’ll always be part of our NICU family! 🥹💗

Good luck with the next chapter — we know you’ll both be amazing! 🌟

🎉 Emma turns 21 🎉

“Today I spent a lovely day with my girl, but I can't quite believe it was 21yrs ago since she made an early appearance into the world at 33wks. The first few hours of her life were critical, her lungs hadn’t fully developed and she needed help breathing.

As a parent, I felt so helpless and I remember praying for her survival with everything I had. At such an early age she showed enormous strength and resilience.

Emma’s birthday’s are always a time for our family to be thankful and I we will always be eternally grateful to the Neonatal Staff at Wishaw General Hospital, we will never forget care and attention Emma received during the first weeks of her life.

Back to work tomorrow for Emma, as full-time cabin crew ✈️”

Happy 21st Birthday Emma! We hope you had a special time celebrating 🥳🎁🎂🩷

💙 Happy Neonatal Nurses Day 💙

A little post dedicated to all of our wonderful staff who make the neonatal unit such a special place to work. 🥹

To the nurses who care for the tiniest and most vulnerable babies, while also holding up their families through some of the scariest and most uncertain days of their lives — today is for you.

For every tiny nappy changed, every feed patiently given, every alarm answered, every milestone celebrated and every cuddle given when a parent can’t be there. For the night shifts fuelled by caffeine, the ridiculously busy shifts where nobody gets a seat, and the moments where we somehow still manage to laugh until we cry. 😂

But most of all, for the compassion, skill and love you give to our babies and families every single day. The job can be incredibly tough, but we genuinely couldn’t ask for a better team. 💕

Happy Neonatal Nurses Day all of our wonderful staff— our babies may be small, but the difference you make is absolutely huge. 👣💙🩷

Here’s to us, our little fighters, their incredible families and the privilege of being part of their stories. 🥹✨

🎒📚💙 BACK TO SCHOOL & FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! 💙📚🎒

It’s that time of year again… and we can’t quite believe how quickly the years have passed! 🥹

For some of our NICU families, there will be a little hand to hold as your child takes their first steps through the school gates. For others, it’s another year of watching them grow, learn and become their own little person. 💙

Every baby who has been part of our NICU family has their own unique journey. Some arrived early, some arrived at term, and some needed a little extra help before they were ready to go home. But seeing them now — ready for school, with their little uniforms, big smiles and even bigger personalities — is something truly special. 🥹🎒

📸 Please pop your little one’s back-to-school or first-day-of-school photo in the comments below! 👇🏼

Let’s fill the comments with our wonderful NICU graduates and celebrate just how far they’ve come. ✨

From their NICU family to their school family… we couldn’t be prouder of you! 💙🥹

💙🏌️‍♂️ Mack is One! 🏌️‍♂️💙

We were so delighted to receive this lovely update from Mack’s family as he celebrated his first birthday at the weekend! 🎂🥳

Mack arrived into the world 7 weeks early, after his waters broke the week before. Despite his early arrival, he was a tiny 5lb bundle of love and mischief! 💙

After a short stay in NICU to support his breathing, Mack moved on to SKBU where he spent another 10 days before heading home. Along the way, he received the most amazing care from our neonatal team, with his family sharing that everyone went above and beyond to care for their boy — something they say they will never forget. 🥹

Fast forward 12 months and Mack has well and truly stolen the hearts of everyone he meets, with his cheeky laugh and infectious smile! Although, as his family admit, he has also given them plenty of moments with their hearts in their mouths! 😂💙

Happy 1st birthday, Mack! We hope your second year is filled with just as much love, laughter and mischief! 🥳💙⛳️

🐢Turtle Tuesday 🐢

Thank you so much to Teddy Mountain UK for the generous donation of these make a bear kits & for Johnstone-Little Tammy for nominating us to receive 🙌

Our chief bear maker neonatal aunties worked hard stuffing these beautiful soft turtles & each baby received one today. The families really enjoyed naming them for their birth certificates & choosing a special message to go inside their hearts ❤️
