2: Intrusive thoughts. 💭 🤯

Intrusive thoughts are one of the lesser-talked-about symptoms of PTSD — but they can be some of the most distressing.

They can come out of nowhere: Unwanted memories, images, feelings or “what if?” thoughts that feel intense, repetitive and are hard to shake. They don’t reflect who you are — they reflect what you’ve been through.

For many people, these thoughts aren’t just passing worries. They can feel vivid, overwhelming, and deeply unsettling, even when you know they don’t make sense.
This is your brain trying to process and protect at the same time — even if it doesn’t feel helpful.

You don’t have to fight these thoughts alone. There are ways to understand them, manage them, reduce their power and take back control
You are not your thoughts. And having them doesn’t make you a bad person — it makes you human. 💜

There are many symptoms that present with someone with PTSD/ CPTSD/ Trauma.

Every day I’m going to focus on one of these.

How many do you recognise in yourself?

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

1• Flashbacks and dissociation

Flashbacks and dissociation aren’t overreactions— they are real, deeply rooted symptoms of PTSD.
A flashback can feel like being pulled back into a moment your mind hasn’t fully processed. It’s not just remembering — it’s reliving, with the same fear, confusion, or helplessness as if it’s happening all over again. ⚡️

Dissociation can show up as feeling detached from your body, your surroundings, or even your sense of self. It’s the mind’s way of protecting you when things feel overwhelming. 🫥

These responses aren’t weaknesses: they’re survival mechanisms.

Healing doesn’t mean you just have to get over it. It means learning to feel safe again, in your own mind and body.

If you experience this, you’re not alone — and support is out there.

Trauma…

You didn’t even realise you had it… and that’s what makes it harder to talk about.

Because how do you explain something that was never named, never understood, and never meant to be passed down?

It showed up as bad focus, short temper, inconsistency, habits or behaviours.

Being told to, “work harder, be stronger, push through.”

So you learned to survive it — not understand it.

And when something isn’t understood, it quietly becomes a pattern.

**Learned behaviour **

As a child, you don’t question behaviour — you absorb it.

You watch how stress is handled.
How failure leads to internal conflict.
How procrastination becomes a safety blanket for not being good enough.
How resting is laziness.

You don’t realise you’re learning it.

It just becomes normal.

When you finally recognise these patterns, something shifts.

It stops being about blame.
It starts becoming about awareness.

You begin to see that what was passed down wasn’t intentional — it was unrecognised products of others’ programming.

And that awareness gives you something different.

The ability to understand it, name it, and respond to it in a way that was never available before.

That is where your power lies!

What are the benefits of Hypnotherapy for anxiety and trauma?

Here’s the thing, there are so many it’s hard to narrow it down but a few of them are:

• Your body no longer reacts like danger is everywhere. Panic and/or anxiety attacks are a thing of the past as your body self-regulates more easily.

• Feel calmer in everyday situations.

• Better sleep

• Less reactive leading to decreased anger and moments of frustration.

•Generally more in control of what you CAN control. Less worrying about what you CAN’T.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting.
It means feeling safe again.

So you’re thinking about Hypnotherapy but you just aren’t sure. Let’s bust some myths:

MYTH: “I’ll lose control.”
TRUTH: You remain aware the entire time.

MYTH: “It will make me relive trauma.”
TRUTH: Hypnotherapy with me focuses on safety-not re-traumatisation.

MYTH: “It’s not real therapy.”
TRUTH: It’s used alongside many therapeutic approaches to support healing and is fantastic for trauma.

Fear often comes from misunderstanding…

What is Hypnotherapy and how can it help?

Let’s break some misconceptions:

Hypnotherapy isn’t mind control or being “put under.”

It’s a guided state of deep focus where your mind becomes more open to change.

For people with PTSD that can mean:

•Reducing triggers.
•Reframing traumatic responses.
•Creating a sense of safety again.

You’re always in control-just more relaxed and receptive- and I’ll never make you cluck like a chicken ( unless you want to) 🐥

When is too much too much?

It is perfectly normal to at times feel nervous, anxious or worried; over-emotional, sad and irritable. These are some of the usual emotions that arise to demonstrate you are human.

What isn’t normal is: 🚩

Living in a permanent state of fear 😨

Talking negatively and letting your inner Karen run the show 🗣️

Crying uncontrollably 😭

Explosive anger 💥

Feeling that your heart is racing 🫀

Heart stopping terror 😱

These are your body’s SOS that there are unresolved issues and it’s time to get help.
