“Who can carry the coffin at a funeral?”

Family members, close friends or loved ones may choose to carry the coffin if they feel comfortable doing so.

Recently, we had the privilege of supporting the family and friends of a truly remarkable gentleman as they gathered at The Manchester Crematorium to celebrate his life.

A devoted husband of 65 years, a proud family man, and a lifelong Manchester City supporter, he was clearly loved by all who knew him. The chapel was filled with those nearest and dearest to him, sharing memories, stories and heartfelt farewells.

As the service came to a close, the familiar sound of Blue Moon echoed from the chapel, creating a powerful and fitting tribute to a man whose passion for his family and his football club never faded.

A true gentleman, deeply respected and greatly loved. A life well lived, a legacy that will live on through the many lives he touched.

It was an honour for us at YOLO Funeral Services to help his family celebrate a life once lived.

We are often asked what YOLO stands for and why our branding is bright and colourful. For us, the colours represent light during some of life’s darkest moments, while also reflecting the diversity, individuality and uniqueness within our community. Our strapline, “Celebrate A Life Once Lived”, sits at the heart of every service we arrange.

We believe every person deserves a farewell that truly reflects their life, personality and the impact they had on those around them. No two lives are ever the same, which is why we take the time to listen to your stories, understand your wishes and help create a service that feels deeply personal and meaningful.

Whether that is a traditional service, a simple farewell or something completely unique, our role is to support families with compassion, dignity and care every step of the way.

Pictured is one example of how we can personalise a loved one’s final journey with our bespoke Only Fools and Horses hearse. We also have a range of bespoke hearses available including rally cars, trucks, motorbikes and much more, helping families create a farewell that truly reflects the person being remembered.

Recently, we had the privilege of conducting a beautiful and very personal service for a much-loved gentleman at Great Glen Crematorium and Natural Burial Ground in Leicester. Surrounded by peaceful countryside, tranquil surroundings, close family and dear friends, it was a fitting farewell filled with love, reflection and cherished memories.

At YOLO Funeral Services, we are often asked how far we travel to support families. The answer is simple, wherever we are needed. Whether local or nationwide, we are honoured to go wherever families ask us, ensuring every loved one receives the care, dignity and personal farewell they deserve.
