Its easy to forget as a parent that our children learn directly from our behaviour, that they mirror us everyday. We want them to be ok, but are we demonstrating how to be ok?

We show them how to clean their teeth, make food, tie shoelaces, be kind, but we also need to show them how to feel and express emotion.

Role modelling how you are feeling, what challenges you've faced, the ups and downs of your day offers them a safe space to express their emotions. The more 'normal' it is in their home environment, the better. The more emotional language you can teach them, the easier it will be for them to identify what they are feeling and communicate it.

If you or your young person are struggling, please get in touch for support from one of our amazing therapists.

We often talk of the benefits of therapy for the sports people coming to see us at Try Talking, but here we ask Louise and Shelley, our therapists, why they like working with sports people?

This follows our recent article on the Try Talking LinkedIn page, which details how Louise and Shelleys individual journeys becoming therapists led to building Try Talking. And how our sporting passion started when meeting on a rugby pitch 25years ago.

If you feel you would like support from one of our therapists please DM or email [email protected]

Self awareness can offer you so much insight into decisions for your future. If you're finishing education or deciding the next step within it, take the time to reflect on how you've responded to your experience of it so far.

Do you thrive in a pressured exam environment? Do you love routine and a schedule? Or do you need flexibility with time and coursework?

Reflecting on how you learn and what environment helps you feel the most productive, can be key in helping you decide what could be the best next step for you.

You are an individual, your brain is unique and there is no universal answer to what comes next, it has to be right for you.

If you would like support to learn more about yourself and work through these questions, then contact us now.

It all started with rugby! Team mates, friends, business partners. The group of ladies in this photo met at 18 on the rugby pitch and are still best friends and inseparable to this day. Thats what sport can give you, a network of support and connection and thats why its so hard when it stops.

We know this at Try Talking so if its a struggle you've felt then come and talk to us.

We love working with 18 to 25 year olds at Try Talking. People are coming to therapy much younger yet with the same questions weve previously experienced from older clients.
'Ive followed all the rules, but I still dont feel happy'
Learning who you really are as an individual is a key development at this age. With many young people having to live at home well into their twenties this is harder to discover.
Therapy is a great for discovering who you are and what makes you happy.

Personally as both a Quins and England rugby fan I'm a big fan of , as a mental health advocate I'm a huge fan of Joe Marler. To be so publicly honest about his mental health struggles and to work towards removing the stigma of talking and being open for other men and particularly men in rugby, in my eyes makes him a legend.

So at the end of you have not seen it, please do go and watch 'Big Boys Don't Cry' it's authentic and insightful.

Professionally I have experienced the rise in numbers of men coming to therapy which is brilliant, please keep reaching out we are here to support you. Talking is for everyone and no one is alone in their struggles.
(Written by Louise, Shelley would never admit to being a Quins fan!)
