The rent on our Wokingham salon has increased by 37.5% 😱 and that's on top of our supply and energy costs doubling since we opened in 2021, along with increases in rates and service charges.
Don't worry, we are not increasing our prices just yet!
However, it's a substantial squeeze on increasingly slender margins, so please support us by continuing to enjoy our massage services and, whatever you do, make sure to turn up for your appointment (or cancel with at least 2 hours' notice so we can offer the slot to someone else). 🙏
The reason so many high street small businesses close is that the costs of doing business keep climbing inexorably. If you pass those costs on to your customers with increased prices, you ironically *lose* more money because fewer people are willing or able to pay the higher prices...and you go under.
Here's why it matters: 99% of businesses in the UK are small businesses, and 48% of UK workers are employed by small businesses. That means the economy, jobs and high streets depend on small businesses staying afloat.
(This isn't a political statement, it's an economic one - it's true no matter who is in government).
