Keeping your body comfortable in the heat, and supporting those back-to-school nerves
Hot weather can be lovely, but it can also leave us feeling tired, heavy, puffy and uncomfortable. Some people notice more swelling around their ankles, feet, hands or legs, particularly if they have been sitting or standing for long periods.
Gentle lymphatic drainage can be a lovely way to support your body during warmer weather. It uses light, rhythmic movements to encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid and can help you feel more comfortable and less congested.
It is also a good time to remember that wellbeing is about more than just the physical body.
As we move towards September, some children, teenagers and students may be feeling nervous or anxious about returning to school, starting university, changing schools or simply facing a new routine.
Those feelings are very real. Sometimes talking through worries in a calm, supportive space can make them feel much more manageable.
I offer talking therapies to help with anxiety, confidence, overwhelm and changes in life. Bowen Therapy can also be helpful for people who hold tension in their bodies when they are stressed or anxious.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Sometimes we need to talk, sometimes our body needs a little help to relax and sometimes a combination of the two feels right.
If you or someone in your family is finding the heat uncomfortable or feeling anxious about the changes September may bring, please know that support is available. Do call Lee Avery on 07710 722615 or visit www.abalancedbodywithbowen.co.uk
