I’ve been going project at college called ‘River of Life’ it’s basically a story of your life in pictures, a guess a little like the 80’s TV show ‘this is your life’. No one keeps albums anymore, I think that’s sad. My mom used to sick ours onto old wallpaper books together with all our certificates of achievement, little cut outs from old newspaper articles we were mentioned in, all wrapped up like a picture book time capsule. Looking at old photos, the physical ones in an album has such a powerful effect on your psyche and senses. You remember the people both in and outside of that shot, sometimes the people behind the camera, it takes you to both good and dark places in equal measure. I’m happy that my time line has been eventful and that it has led me to where I am. I don’t regret too much apart from some of the hairstyles, but a can blame my mother for some of those 😂

What is good about this exercise is it helps you to see how time goes by so fast and that wasting it worrying about silly stuff, or things you can’t control is a waste of energy. It’s also a reminder to hold those you love close while you still have them ❤️

It’s also a really good thing to do to help someone through grief as sometimes in the early stages, you only remember the bad stuff. Photos capture good times and it’s nice to help someone be reminded of them. So the next time you’re at your oldies house, ask to see the family album, you’ll be surprised what you’ll learn.

Good afternoon all. Sadly, a little moan. I try to be as flexible as I can with my availability, I offer evening appointments and Saturday mornings and accept that life throws curved balls and things crop up unexpectedly so cancellations are a standard part of my working life. However, not turning up for an appointment, when my system sends out reminders is very frustrating and costly to me.

Also questioning why i charge full price for non attended appointments with no reason is a tad puzzling 🤷‍♀️

My time, on going training and overhead costs don’t come for free. I give my all to my work, it’s extremely tiring. The fact that I work from home should not be a factor in the reasoning for that (something that was mentioned to me this week as an excuse to not charge - yes, seriously)

I know it’s holiday season and perhaps our head isn’t exactly in the game so to speak but please try to understand this is my living and how I pay the bills.

Have a lovely weekend. Xx

“Human beings are spending week after week
without being touched by another human being,
and we have become so accustomed to this
reality that we rarely stop to consider how
biologically absurd it is.”

For almost all of human history, people lived in
close-knit communities. Families slept near one
another, worked together, carried children,
embraced in grief, celebrated together, cared
for the sick, and experienced regular physical
contact.

Touch wasn't considered a therapy, it was
simply part of being human.

Our nervous systems evolved in that
environment.

Healthy, consensual touch can influence stress
hormones, heart rate, blood pressure, oxytocin
release, and feelings of safety and connection.
Infants literally fail to thrive without sufficient
nurturing touch.

Adults don't stop needing it just because we
grow up.

I’ve made it to the end of year 1 of level 4 in my counselling training and the horses were here to greet me at college 🥳😊😅

It’s been tough. Not particularly from an academic perspective but emotionally, I feel like I’ve been through an old washing machine, stuck in spin cycle with no off switch. All good, part of the process. My tutor is happy with my progress, I’m almost done with my portfolio with a few additions I’m done and can relax for summer 😅

I’m still waiting for my date to start my placement in September but the wheels are in motion.

Feeling rather pleased with myself 😊

A very happy 70th Birthday to this young fella, Steve Aldred. 🥳🥳

Steve has been a loyal client now for 10 years! 🥳

He first came along for treatment with a gift voucher bought for his 60th, since then he’s been coming back every month for regular treatment.

Steve is well know in Stourbridge for his funky shirts and cheeky grin, he always cheers me up and generally takes the P out of me at every given opportunity!

I really value my clients and genuinely enjoy the friendships made along the way.

It really is the best job in the world!

Thank you Steve, here’s to many more laughs and sharpened elbows 😂

Happiest of Birthdays to you! Xx
