And just like that… my baby is in Year 7. 🥹🎓🤍

Today marks the beginning of a whole new chapter for my beautiful Lana. Her very first day of secondary school and I honestly don’t know where the years have gone. 🥺

It feels like only yesterday I was holding your tiny hand, and now I’m watching you step into Year 7 becoming this incredible, funny, kind, strong-minded young lady. 🌻

After watching you work so hard, pass all of your SATs, finish primary school and celebrate at your prom, seeing you put that secondary-school uniform on this morning made me feel a kind of pride I can’t even put into words.

More than anything, I hope these next few years teach you that education isn’t only about grades. I hope you discover what makes you curious, find the people who allow you to completely be yourself, make memories you’ll laugh about for years, and never lose that wonderfully unique little spark that makes you Lana. ✨

There will be exciting days, difficult days, friendships, lessons, mistakes, achievements and so many firsts, and through every single one, I’ll be right behind you cheering you on.

I couldn’t be prouder of the person you’re becoming.

Go and absolutely smash Year 7, my beautiful darling 💪🏼📚✨

🎂✨ Another trip around the sun… Happy Birthday to me. ✨🎂

This birthday feels different.

I think my biggest lesson has been that life isn’t about fitting into every room you walk into.

It’s about finding the people, places and moments where you can take off the mask, breathe out and think… there I am. That’s me. 🤍

I’m learning to stop shrinking myself to make other people comfortable. To trust my intuition. To protect my energy. To embrace the emotional, excitable, slightly chaotic, deeply caring woman that I am. 😂🤍

I know I want to keep choosing experiences over things, kindness over judgement, curiosity over fear and a life that leaves the world a little brighter than I found it. 🌻

So here’s to another year of adventures, animals, ridiculous ideas, deep connections, belly laughs, stepping outside my comfort zone and becoming even more unapologetically me.

I’m incredibly grateful for the people in my life.

One minute we were surrounded by cloud, unable to see what was hiding beyond it… and then, almost as if nature had lifted a curtain, the clouds vanished and Volcán Poás appeared. 🇨🇷☁️🌿

A few incredible facts about this Costa Rican giant:

🌋 Poás is an active volcano and is considered one of Costa Rica’s most active volcanoes. (Smithsonian Volcanism)

💚 Its huge main crater is around 1.3 km across, making it one of the largest volcanic craters in the world. (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje)

🏔️ The volcano reaches approximately 2,700 metres (8,850 ft) above sea level which helps explain all those dramatic clouds! (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje)

💧 Inside the active crater lies Laguna Caliente, an extraordinary volcanic lake considered one of the most acidic natural lakes on Earth, with its acidity sometimes approaching pH 0. (Smithsonian Volcanism)

🔥 The crater lake is heated by the volcanic system beneath it and has been the site of steam-driven eruptions that can throw water, steam, ash and volcanic material into the air. (Smithsonian Volcanism)

💥 One of Poás’s famous historic eruptions occurred in 1910, producing an enormous ash cloud that rose approximately 8 km into the sky! (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje)

🌿 And it’s not just about the volcano. The surrounding national park protects 6,506 hectares of incredible habitat, including beautiful cloud forest. (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje)

🦜 Wildlife found around Poás includes quetzals, hummingbirds, squirrels, porcupines, weasels and many other species with around 79 bird species recorded in the park. (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje)

🌋☁️ A reminder that sometimes the most incredible things are sitting right in front of us… we just have to wait for the clouds to clear. 🇨🇷✨
