๐ฆถ How did I get a fungal nail infection?
This is one of the questions I'm asked most often!
Fungal nail infections happen when tiny fungal spores get underneath the nail through small cracks or damage. They thrive in warm, damp conditions, such as sweaty shoes and socks, and can also be picked up from swimming pools, gyms, changing rooms, or spread from athlete's foot.
The fungus grows beneath the nail, causing it to become thickened, discoloured and brittle.
Can you get rid of it?
Yesโbut it takes time. The infected nail has to grow out and be replaced by healthy nail, so early treatment gives the best chance of success.
๐ Every appointment includes complete foot careโnot just treatment of the fungal nail. I'll care for your whole foot, trim your nails, remove hard skin where needed, and provide advice to help keep your feet healthy and reduce the risk of it coming back.
