The cemetery regularly welcomes dog walkers, but today we're not promoting picking up after them or keeping them on leads. Today, we're warning about walking your dog in summer. With temperatures expected to reach up to 38 degrees this week, please keep your dog at home and inside. Sunny or humid weather does kill, and hot tarmac will burn their paws. Anything above 21 degrees can be a danger depending on your dogs age, size, medical conditions, etc. Many parts of the cemetery are in full sun all day, and the paths can become burning hot. Missing a walk will not harm your dog, but walking in hot temperatures will.
Although the cemetery gates state 8am - 9pm opening, they're often open much earlier and close a tiny bit later. There are also plenty of taps, so make sure to bring a water bowl and offer water regularly if you walk your dog when it's safer to do so.
