When I started The Physio & Injection Clinic over two years ago, the aim was quite simple: to create a clinic where people could receive high-quality, honest and individualised care for their injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.

I wanted clients to feel listened to, understand what was actually causing their problem, and be given straightforward advice about the treatment options available — including being honest when an injection, scan or treatment simply isn't necessary!

Since then, the clinic has grown to provide a range of services including:

Advanced MSK Assessment & Ultrasound

Not sure what’s causing your pain? Getting the right assessment is where it starts.

At The Physio & Injection Clinic, my aim is to offer more than a standard physiotherapy appointment.

I combine advanced musculoskeletal assessment with point-of-care diagnostic ultrasound, allowing us to investigate many joint, tendon and soft-tissue problems there and then in clinic.

Ultrasound can help assess conditions affecting areas such as the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle and foot, including tendon problems, bursitis, joint changes, muscle injuries, ligament injuries and other soft-tissue conditions.

But one of the biggest benefits is that you get to see what I see!

Rather than simply receiving a report, I can talk you through the ultrasound images in real time, explain the relevant anatomy and show you how structures behave as we move them. We then combine those findings with your symptoms and physical examination to decide what they actually mean for you.

From there, we can develop a personalised management plan — whether that's physiotherapy and rehabilitation, further investigation such as MRI or onward referral, or ultrasound-guided injection therapy when clinically appropriate.

Knee osteoarthritis limiting the things you enjoy?

There may be more options than you think.

For some people with knee osteoarthritis, exercise, physiotherapy, pain medication and traditional injections don't provide enough relief. That's where newer treatment options such as Arthrosamid® may be worth discussing.

Arthrosamid® is a non-biodegradable hydrogel injection designed specifically for the treatment of symptoms associated with knee osteoarthritis. Unlike traditional steroid or hyaluronic acid injections, the hydrogel becomes incorporated into the soft tissue lining of the knee joint, providing a different approach to managing osteoarthritis symptoms.

One of the reasons I offer Arthrosamid® at The Physio & Injection Clinic is to give patients access to a broader range of non-surgical options when knee pain is beginning to affect walking, exercise, work, sport or simply enjoying everyday life.

But the injection is only one part of the process.

Before considering Arthrosamid®, we'll discuss your symptoms, previous treatments, activity levels and goals. I'll assess your knee and explain the different treatment options available so we can decide whether Arthrosamid® — or another approach — is appropriate for you.

Got stubborn Achilles pain that just won’t settle?

Wondering exactly what’s causing it?

Achilles pain isn’t always as simple as “Achilles tendinitis”. There are several different problems that can cause very similar symptoms, and understanding what is actually going on can make a big difference to how we manage it.

At The Physio & Injection Clinic, we utilise point-of-care diagnostic ultrasound alongside a detailed clinical assessment to help assess the Achilles tendon and surrounding structures in real time.

Ultrasound can help us look for features associated with:

• Insertional Achilles tendinopathy – where the tendon meets the heel bone
• Mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy – affecting the tendon higher up
• Calcific changes within or around the tendon
• Partial tendon tears
• Retrocalcaneal bursitis
• Haglund-related irritation
• Other causes of pain around the back of the ankle and heel

One of the things I particularly like about ultrasound is that you can see the images with me during your appointment.

I can talk you through the anatomy, show you what we're looking at and explain how the findings relate to your symptoms. We can even assess the tendon dynamically while you move.

The scan isn't considered in isolation. We combine what we see on ultrasound with your history, symptoms, strength and clinical examination to build a clearer picture of what's going on and, importantly, what we can do about it.

Specialising in Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee pain isn't just about getting older. It is about understanding what's driving your symptoms and finding the right treatment for you.

This image captures one of my favourite parts of assessing patients with knee osteoarthritis: using diagnostic ultrasound to explain exactly what's happening inside the knee.

Rather than simply discussing scan results, I use live ultrasound during your appointment to talk you through your anatomy in real time. Together, we can look at the structures around the knee, discuss how osteoarthritis affects the joint, and explain why you're experiencing pain and stiffness.

I believe that when patients understand their diagnosis, they feel more confident making decisions about treatment and become more engaged in their recovery.

As a physiotherapist with a special interest in knee osteoarthritis, every assessment is designed to identify the factors contributing to your symptoms and create a personalised management plan.

Seeing your injury is often the first step towards understanding it.

This image shows me explaining a live ultrasound scan during a client assessment. Rather than simply telling client's what's happening, I like to show them exactly what we're looking at on the screen.

Being able to visualise muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints in real time helps patients better understand their diagnosis, ask questions, and become more involved in their recovery.

Diagnostic ultrasound is an invaluable tool that complements my clinical assessment, helping to guide treatment decisions and provide personalised care.
