Jokes aside, Frenchies are full of personality but their selective breeding comes with beyond significant physical challenges.
🩺 Besides common medical issues like BOAS (severe breathing problem), allergies and eye conditions, they also suffer from major musculoskeletal problems:
💥 IVDD & Spinal Issues leading to painful disc herniations and paralysis.
🦴 Hip Dysplasia & Patellar Luxation: leads to abnormal wear, early-onset arthritis and altered gait.
🔜 Compensatory Muscle Strain: Front-heavy proportions and hindlimb pathologies place chronic overload on their neck, shoulders and forelimbs.
✔️ If your friends or family are considering a Frenchie, make sure they are fully informed before taking the step.
No dog should be bred to suffer.
It’s not just Frenchies - would you like to know which other breeds weren’t bred for health? Let me know in the comments. 🐾
