Most posture advice tells you to “stand up straight”, but the problem is rarely that you’re not trying. It’s that the muscles meant to hold you there are underpowered.
Your mid-back (thoracic spine) is designed to stabilise your upper body, keep your shoulders in place, and resist the forward pull of modern life, laptops, phones, driving. But for most of us, those muscles are under-used and weak.
The fix: strengthening, not just stretching.
A simple resistance band row, held for a few sets, a few times a week, can start waking those muscles back up.
Over time, better posture starts to feel like your default, rather than something you have to consciously hold.
