⭐ A huge thank you! ⭐

What a wonderful afternoon we had at Bassett Breasties yeaterday!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, whether you joined us for breastfeeding support, the Baby & Child First Aid session, or simply for a chat and a cuppa. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces alongside some new ones too.

A very special thank you goes to Frances from FS 1st Aid Training for once again giving up her time to deliver such an informative, practical and reassuring first aid session.

Learning what to do in an emergency can feel daunting, but Frances has such a calm and approachable way of explaining everything that everyone left feeling more confident and empowered.

We're incredibly grateful for her continued support of Bassett Breasties and for helping local families gain skills that could one day make all the difference.

Thank you also to everyone for embracing our temporary change of venue while we welcomed such a popular session. It was fantastic to see the hall filled with parents, babies, grandparents and caregivers all learning together.

Moments like these remind me exactly why community matters so much.

I hope everyone left not only with new first aid knowledge, but also knowing there's always a friendly place to come for support, reassurance and connection.

See you all at our next Bassett Breasties session!

What's one piece of advice you'd give a brand new parent?

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing during those early newborn days, what would it be?

Maybe it would be...

💭 "Trust your instincts."
💭 "Accept the help."
💭 "The housework can wait."
💭 "It gets easier."

For me, it would be...

"Don't be afraid to ask for support."

I know that's easier said than done.

When my daughter was born, I felt like I should be able to figure everything out on my own. But becoming a parent isn't something we're meant to do alone.

The biggest difference for me wasn't suddenly having all the answers—it was having people who listened, reassured me and reminded me that I was doing better than I thought.

That's exactly why Bassett Breasties exists today.

So now it's your turn...

What's the one piece of advice you'd give to a brand new parent?

Leave it in the comments below. Your words, emoji or gif could be exactly what another mum or dad needs to see today.

Let's fill the comments with kindness, encouragement and a reminder that no one has to navigate parenthood alone.

Why I started Bassett Breasties

People often ask me why I decided to start a breastfeeding support group in Royal Wootton Bassett.

The answer is simple...

Because I know what it feels like to need support and not be able to easily access it.

After my daughter was born by caesarean section, breastfeeding wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. I couldn't drive, and there wasn't any local breastfeeding support available in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Support existed—but it meant travelling to another town. In those early weeks, that felt overwhelming. My husband even had to take extra time off work just so he could drive us to appointments.

I remember thinking...

"Why doesn't my home town have somewhere parents can simply walk to for support?"

That thought stayed with me.

As I spoke to more local families, I realised I certainly wasn't the only one who had felt isolated or unsure during those early weeks.

So, after becoming an Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) Peer Supporter, I decided it was time to do something about it.

Bassett Breasties was created so that families in Royal Wootton Bassett would have somewhere local, welcoming and completely free to come for support, reassurance and connection.

Not just when breastfeeding feels difficult.

But to celebrate the wins.
To ask the questions you think might be silly.
To meet other parents who simply get it.
To know that whatever your feeding journey looks like, you're not alone.

Every time I see conversations starting around the room, babies happily feeding, friendships forming and confidence growing, I'm reminded exactly why Bassett Breasties exists.

Thank you to everyone who has walked through our doors, shared our posts, recommended us to a friend or supported us in any way. You've helped turn one mum's difficult experience into something that is now supporting so many local families.

And that means the world.

A little reminder for every parent today...

Parenting doesn't come with a manual.

Some days feel magical.
Some days feel overwhelming.
Most days are a mixture of both.

It's easy to wonder whether you're doing enough, especially in those early weeks and months.

The truth is...

✨ You don't need to have all the answers.
✨ You don't need to be perfect.
✨ You don't need to compare yourself to anyone else.

Your baby doesn't need a perfect parent.

They simply need you, because you are perfect for them.

Every cuddle.
Every feed.
Every comforting word.
Every time you keep going, even when you're exhausted...

It all matters.

At Bassett Breasties, we know that sometimes the biggest difference isn't having all the answers—it's having someone to listen, reassure you and remind you that you're doing a wonderful job.

Whether you're breastfeeding, expressing, combination feeding, pregnant and preparing for your little one, or simply looking for a welcoming community, you'll always find a friendly face and a warm cuppa waiting for you.

Be kind to yourself today.

You're doing better than you think.

Walking into a new group can feel like the hardest part.

"What if I'm breastfeeding, expressing, combination feeding... or still deciding what's right for us?"

The good news is... you're not alone, and you'll be welcomed exactly as you are.

At Bassett Breasties, there's no pressure and no judgement—just a friendly, supportive space where you can chat with other parents, ask questions, share experiences or simply enjoy a cup of tea while your little one plays.

You don't need to book.
You can arrive whenever suits you.
Stay for five minutes or the whole session—it's completely up to you.

Whether you're:
🤱 Breastfeeding
🍼 Expressing
💕 Combination feeding
