Injured your ACL and looking to get back on the field? Dont overlook Vertical hops in your return to sport testing battery 🤸‍♂️✨

Great article in the BJSM a couple of months ago looking at ACLR patients who had “passed” RTS evaluations. Significant vertical hop asymmetries remain and although further research is needed around the predictive value of this, it’s a great insight as practitioners to ensure adequate soleous strengthening and an extra focus on vertical force production/kinematics to reduce some of the limb asymmetries still present (but otherwise missed using horizontal jumps + traditional tests only).

This is something I have witnessed first hand as a practitioner but also as someone who has undergone 3 ACLR’s myself. Tendon stiffness & lack of vertical force production can sometimes take over 18m+ to return to pre injury levels so ensuring you have enough plyos in your programme to encourage SSC’s and regain adequate knee flexion/ankle mobility is key. 🤙🏼🔥

Hi there lovely RehabFit friends + fams! We’ve been a bit quiet on here as we have moved from the UK back to lovely old New Zealand! Quite a journey with 3 under 3, a sausage dog, a whole clinic + house to move 😮‍💨

For the next foreseeable little bit, we are moving to virtual led consultations and rehab/sport science programmes.

We work with some great providers to allow us to do this and had some great outcomes with patients in the UK through Covid whilst offering this service!

So until our clinic things arrive off the boat 🚢 (let’s be honest that could take forever atm!) we will be running our consultations virtually!

Get in touch through our link above and if you’re unsure how we can help you, DM us or book in for a free 10min chat 📞 to see if you are a suitable client for online coaching and rehabilitation 💕

Bridie got the opportunity to guest lecture to the MSc students today at around Radiology in clinical practice.

A great experience that hopefully the students enjoyed as much as she did 🌟

Here’s a few slides from the presentation.. 🎬

ACL Rehab for me is a constant work-on. I’ve had 3 ACL surgeries (2 Recon’s + 1 Revision) and since having our three children have lost so much muscular strength.

Going into 2022 getting back some of my lower body strength is a huge goal of mine so I can play some rugby again worry-free 🏉⚡️I will however, always add basic Prehab exercises into my programme to ensure I’m doing just that little bit more to help my knees … 🙏🏼

If any of you are finding yourself in a similar situation or have some ongoing knee complaints, don’t hesitate to DM or email us 💪🏼✅

N95’s, temperature checks, PPE 🦠😵‍💫

We love what we do but we really won’t be sad for the day when we don’t have to use all these precautions again.

In the mean time, hope everyone is staying healthy + looking after one another. Hopefully things will be much brighter in 2022 🌞🌇🌸

Great post in the recently reiterating the approach we always try to use in clinic 🤝

Underlying the basic psychological needs principle and meeting the three areas of self-determination helps all our athletes feel empowered in their rehabilitation & helps facilitate long-term adherence = better outcomes for everyone💡☑️🏃🏾‍♂️

In clinic we use Rehab Guru to manage our booking calendar but also to send out questionnaires and prescribe exercises to all our clients 🏋🏽‍♀️

This helps keep all our records super tidy but also works great for you 😄

We recommend downloading rehabguru client from the app stores for all our patients, as this is the easiest way to view your exercises (if this sounds too complicated, we can always print them in clinic too).

After each appointment you will be emailed a link to view these in your browser or a unique 10digit code for the app. If you enter this in the app, all your programmes and forms are kept in once place and you can simply tap through your programme to view the videos and find any instructions.

You can also feedback through the app with how you found the exercises and session as a whole so we can monitor your progress at each visit ⚡️ Simple right? ✅

It’s a dogs life!

Meet our RehabFit mascot Bronny🐶 named after Lebron James 23 but not quite as tall- he’s a mini poodle crossed with a mini dachshund. Sometimes around in clinic, he’s loves cuddles but is quite happy snoozing away the days in his bed 😴🐾🦴

If you cannot find the service or time you are looking for, please drop us a message to see if we can find a way to accomodate you! We prefer DMS, emails and texts to calls as it can be quite difficult to answer the phone in clinic, however we endeavour to get back to you very quickly! ☺️
