The Disability Champion Helping those who consider themselves to have a disability or long term illness to flourish.

A little update from me (and a certain peeping fox 🦊👀)

A lot of my creative energy has naturally shifted over to Nourish Flourish UK lately, where I’ve been sharing more of the calming, grounding, wildlife-and-garden side of life 🌿

While my content isn’t always directly disability-related, it’s very often shaped by the reality of living as a disabled and neurodivergent person: finding gentle routines, moments of regulation, connection with nature, and small pockets of calm where we can.

So if you’ve wondered where I disappeared to… I’m still here 💛
Just usually being supervised by a fox these days 😂

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and I’m still processing it.

There’s been relief. And grief. And a realisation of how hard I’ve been on myself for things I didn’t understand.

The past few weeks have involved untangling administrative chaos and trying to approach it with more compassion than criticism. It’s a work in progress.

The thoughts in this video are unfinished and a bit scrambled - which feels fitting. I’m not polished right now. I’m learning in real time.

I’m also still creating - slowly and imperfectly - building the journal I’ve been working on. In many ways, it’s evolving alongside me.

Maybe understanding yourself, even later than you expected, is still a kind of coming home.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Christmas stories lately - not as diagnoses or labels, but as reflections of difference, strengths, comfort and care.

It’s part of a wider thread in my work around noticing what helps us function, rest and flourish in a noisy world - especially when we’re tired, overwhelmed or misunderstood.

Over the coming months I’ll be sharing more writing, resources and gentle courses rooted in this strengths-based, neurodivergent-friendly approach - alongside the journals many of you already know.

More soon. Quietly. Thoughtfully.

More Than Magic is a gentle exploration of difference, strengths, comfort and care, using familiar stories to reflect on neurodivergent-friendly ways of being.

I recently blogged about Severn Trent’s priority service update procedure. I am pleased to report that it made some waves and changes are afoot. Photo by Emiliano Arano on Pexels.com Firstly they contacted me very swiftly about the blog, much more swiftly than I have managed to make time to write this, so please accept my apologies. Anyway, I’m off the hamster wheel for a minute, so I’d like to sincerely thank Catherine from Severn Trent for listening and implementing positive changes....

Severn Trent listened to my last blog and are making changes to make priority services more accessible. I feel heard and am impressed by them

I'm grateful that utility companies offer priority registers, it's of huge benefit to vulnerable people and/or those with additional needs. Getting extra help in an enduring power cut or if a pipe bursts and feeling safe in the knowledge that your household will revert to "normality" as soon as humanly possible is a comfort and a lifeline. I urge people who feel that this kind of service would be beneficial to them to get in contact with their utility suppliers and log their disabilities/long term health conditions....
