we do? Woodward SHE Ltd is a specialist Health, Safety, Construction, Fire and Environmental Management Training and Consultancy Company operating UK wide. We are accredited to deliver NEBOSH, IOSH and Highfield (HABC) training courses as well as bespoke specialist training. We have over 25 years experience and expertise in training in health and safety management and environmental management. Our pass rates for NEBOSH Certificate courses are well over 90 percent and other courses results are well above the national average. With very few exceptions our NEBOSH National Diploma students have moved into well paid health and safety positions. UK Summer Holiday – Office Closure

Our team will be taking an extended break for the Summer Holiday period and our office will be closed during this time.

- Our office will close at 4.00pm on Friday 31 July 2026.
- Our office open again at 8.30am on Wednesday 02 September 2026.

NEBOSH has announced the recipients of its 2026 Michael Adamson NEBOSH Diploma Scholarship.

This annual programme awards twenty recipients with paid-for study for the NEBOSH Level 6 National or International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals. The scholarship is named in memory of Michael Adamson, who lost his life in a preventable workplace incident, and aims to support academic and career progression for aspiring health and safety practitioners. By providing educational opportunities, NEBOSH hopes that scholarship recipients will positively influence health and safety so that other families do not experience the loss of a loved one.

Occupational and ( ) professionals working in Abu Dhabi can now use qualifications to meet the qualification requirements within a new professional registration framework launched by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre ( ).

The ADPHC has confirmed that:

✅ The NEBOSH National General Certificate and NEBOSH International General Certificate align with the Level 4 qualification requirement for registration as a General Practitioner.

☑️ The NEBOSH National Diploma and NEBOSH International Diploma align with the Level 7 qualification requirement for registration as a Senior Practitioner.

Wessex Water will face criminal charges nearly six years after an explosion that killed four workers including a 16-year-old apprentice.

Luke Wheaton, 16, Ray White, 57, Brian Vickery, 63, and Mike James, 64, died in the blast at the company's water treatment site in Avonmouth, near Bristol, in December 2020.

A police investigation into the explosion was dropped in July 2024 because the evidence did not reach the "extremely high threshold to prosecute" for manslaughter.

But the Health and Safety Executive ( ) has now informed Wessex Water of its intention to prosecute. A successful prosecution would result in a fine rather than individuals facing prison sentences.

Farm Death Inquests Spark "Safety Week" Reflections

Isolated locations, lone working, extreme weather, heavy machinery and large animals. What is being done - and what can be done - to reduce deaths and injuries on Britain's farms?

"Farming is such a difficult job and we all owe so much to the people who produce our food."

These were the words spoken by a coroner at the conclusion of an inquest into the death of a 26-year-old worker who was one of five farm fatalities in Cumbria alone in 2024.

Daniel David Sowerby died after a tractor with a faulty handbrake rolled back and crushed him against a barn wall at Newlands Farm in Wigton.

A 26-year-old farm worker died after he was crushed between a tractor and a barn, an inquest has heard. Daniel David Sowerby was found on the side of the road by Newlands Farm in Wigton, Cumbria, with significant injuries on the morning of 11 September 2024.

During the first day of his inquest at Workington Coroners Court on Monday, coroner Robert Cohen heard the model of tractor Sowerby was driving, a Case Maxxum, had since been recalled due to an issue with the handbrake.

A post-mortem examination found Daniel Sowerby had suffered several crush injuries, including to his torso, lacerations to one of his lungs, liver, spine and femur. The pathologist determined he had died of chest injuries.

Daniel Sowerby, who grew up at Bassenthwaite, had been working for Alan Gill and his family at Newlands Farm as a self-employed farm worker since about 2019.

HSE backs Farm Safety Week amid concern for children and older workers on Britain’s farms.

The Health and Safety Executive ( ) continues to support Farm Safety Week, with new figures for 2025/26 revealing that children and older workers remain disproportionately at risk on Britain’s farms. Agriculture remains the industry with the highest rate of work-related fatalities.

Provisional data for 2025/26 shows that 29 people were killed in agriculture, forestry and fishing, including seven members of the public, three of whom were children. Over the last five years, nine children have lost their lives on Britain’s farms, representing 6% of all work-related fatal injuries in the sector. At the other end of the age spectrum, over 65s accounted for half of all worker fatalities in 2025/26 — a stark reminder that older farmers face particular risks in what remains a challenging working environment.
