🏃‍♂️ Please support Chris Highton as he takes on the Great North Run this September in aid of Alcohol Change UK

Chris, a Contracts Manager at Stobbarts, is running the 13.1-mile challenge to raise money for a charity that means a great deal to him.

Alcohol Change UK works to reduce alcohol-related harm and supports individuals, families and communities affected by alcohol-related issues across the UK.

Chris said:

"Like many people, I've seen the impact that alcohol-related issues can have on individuals, families and communities. Alcohol Change UK does fantastic work supporting those affected, and I'm proud to be raising money to help them continue making a difference."

Every donation – no matter the size – will help support the charity's important work and encourage Chris as he trains for race day.

This morning, we gathered as many team members as we could into our Workington office to surprise Carol and Ian with some gifts and goodies to show them both how much we all appreciate the hard work and dedication they have shown over the past 20 years.

🎉 This June, we’re celebrating a very special milestone… 20 years of Carol and Ian as our directors at Bellcare!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking back on some amazing memories, sharing stories from across the years, celebrating the incredible people who have been part of our journey, and having a little fun along the way too.

☀️ Hot weather can be difficult for everyone, especially older people or those with health conditions.

Here are a few simple ways to stay safe and comfortable during the heatwave:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🪟 Keep curtains closed during the hottest hours
👕 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
🌳 Stay in the shade where possible
🍓 Eat light meals and snacks
🧴 Don’t forget sun cream if heading outside

If you or a loved one is taking medication, it is also wise to check your risk of overheating or sunstroke - some medications can be affected by the heat and sun.

It’s also important to check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, and vulnerable loved ones during warmer weather to make sure they are comfortable and cool.
