The NKF have campaigned for many years for a fairer system of prescription charging.

Now we are carrying out a survey alongside Kidney Research UK and Kidney Care UK to learn more about whether people on different treatments for their kidney disease pay for their prescription medicines.

We welcome the Scottish Medicines Consortium’s decision to accept sparsentan for restricted use in people living with primary IgA nephropathy (IgAN).

This is a positive step forward, offering improved access to new treatment options that could help people better manage their kidney disease.

At the NKF, we remain committed to supporting developments that enhance care and outcomes for the kidney community.

We’re delighted to share some special news.

The National Kidney Federation, has been selected to appear in Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership. A new publication produced by the History of Parliament and St James’s House.

The book was launched at Westminster Abbey today, and we’re proud that our Chief Executive, Andrea Brown and Head of Marketing and Fundraising, Pete Revell attended on behalf of the NKF.

This recognition reflects the importance of charity leadership and the vital role patient voices play in shaping better outcomes for people living with kidney disease.

Total Warrior volunteers needed for Leeds 2026!

The incredible 12K obstacle race takes place at Bramham Park in Leeds from 27 to 28 June 2026, and the National Kidney Federation needs enthusiastic volunteers looking for an unforgettable weekend.

Volunteer roles may include helping to register participants, at the bag drop, the finish line, marshalling the crazy obstacles or litter picking.

As a thank you, every volunteer will receive free entry into the 12K Total Warrior event! The National Kidney Federation will also receive a financial donation from Total Warrior for each person volunteering and we’d love you to fundraise too.

Your time and energy really will make a difference. And you’ll get to experience the muddy mayhem of Total Warrior for yourself too!

Many patients leave appointments reassured… until the questions hit later.

What do my results actually mean?
How fast is my condition progressing?
What should I change in my daily life?
What happens next?

These questions matter, and they’re often left unasked.

šŸ’¬ What’s one question you’ve wished you’d asked after an appointment?

Let’s open the conversation, leave it in the comments below.
