We introduced a new game to the residents of Caer Gwent last week, and it was a huge hit! 😂 Known as the Big Pants Game, it was quickly renamed Sammy's Big Pants Game for the afternoon. Residents and staff had a fantastic time, sharing plenty of laughter and smiles. We can't wait to play again soon! 🎉

What a fabulous afternoon we had on Saturday at our Summer Garden Party here at Caer Gwent! ☀️

Residents, along with their family and friends, joined us for a wonderful afternoon filled with great food, live music, and plenty of laughter. Everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ, fantastic entertainment from Peter and Mick, and of course, Trudi's Tombola and our amazing raffle.

It was lovely to see everyone relaxing together in the garden, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying each other's company. With the drinks flowing and the sun shining, it truly was the perfect summer celebration.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon! 🌻

This week at Caer Gwent, we were delighted to welcome a fluffy visitor - Sage 😺

Sage quickly became part of the Caer Gwent family, enjoying plenty of cuddles. He especially loved exploring the training room and even made himself at home in the manager’s office!

Many of our residents have had cats in the past, so having Sage visit has brought them so much joy. They’ve absolutely loved his company and are already looking forward to his next visit for more cuddles 🥰

Because time spent with cuddly companions is never wasted 🐾

Our residents were treated to a fabulous afternoon of music from Kim and Burton. 🎶

They entertained everyone with a wonderful selection of songs, from Dolly Parton to Elvis Presley, before performing a few duets together. There was plenty of singing along, smiling, and toe-tapping throughout the afternoon! 🎤

We would like to thank Kim and Burton for such an enjoyable performance, and we look forward to welcoming them back again soon. 😄

To mark Carers Week, we are recognising and celebrating the incredible contribution of all the staff at Caer Gwent – not only our Care Assistants and Senior Carers, but also our wonderful Domestic Team. 😊

Our care staff provide compassionate support, dignity, and companionship to those we care for every day. Their dedication helps residents maintain their independence and quality of life. Their kindness, patience, and commitment make a meaningful difference not only to the people they support, but also to their families.

Self-Care is not a luxury- it is a necessity ✨

This week at Caer Gwent our Residents have been enjoying some "Me Time" by having Pamper sessions; both Sammy's Spa and Becca's Nails have helped the ladies take time to care for themselves and feel refreshed.

Pat and Doreen enjoyed having their nails painted, Brenda enjoyed her face mask and even commented the next day on how her skin felt soft and refreshed again 🥰

We’re celebrating the amazing people who give their time to support Guild Care 💙

Meet Lis, one of our fantastic volunteer gardeners at Caer Gwent🌸 For the past two years, Lis has been supporting our staff gardener Jackie, helping to bring our outdoor spaces to life for residents, families and staff. As we head into spring and summer, her work is creating beautiful, welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy 🌞

Lis shared:
“ I really enjoy volunteering at Guild Care, as I know the garden is so important to residents, families and staff, and making it look attractive is something I really like to do. Being surrounded by lovely green space is really beneficial for everyone, and by helping the full-time gardener I get pleasure from knowing that the garden is an attractive space for everyone to enjoy. It also keeps me fit.”

We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities across Guild Care, from gardening to supporting activities, retail and more. However you choose to get involved, you’ll be making a real difference.

Our care home volunteers make such a difference in our care homes, supporting residents every day with kindness, companionship and their time.

They are always there to lend a hand and are a big part of the home and its community.

As Sammy, Health and Wellbeing Coordinator at Caer Gwent Nursing Care Home shared, “We would be lost without them. They are a big part of the Caer Gwent family. Thank you sometimes doesn’t feel enough.”
