š Win of the Week at Feature Physiotherapy Worthing!
One of our recent patients came to us after experiencing a month of dizziness, balance difficulties, and involuntary eye flickering (nystagmus).
Following a thorough assessment, we diagnosed Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) - one of the most common causes of vertigo. BPPV occurs when tiny calcium crystals in the inner ear become displaced and move into one of the semicircular canals, disrupting the bodyās sense of balance and triggering dizziness.
Treatment involved performing the Epley manoeuvre, a simple and highly effective technique designed to guide these crystals back to where they belong. Research shows that symptoms improve in around 70ā80% of cases after a single treatment, with success rates exceeding 90% following repeated manoeuvres.
Weāre delighted to report that this patientās symptoms fully resolved, and they are now back to their day-to-day activities without dizziness.
If youāre experiencing dizziness, vertigo, or balance problems, our team may be able to help.
