We'd like to wish our wonderful Practice Manager and Dispensing Optician Mark a very happy retirement after over 45 years of loyal service to Collisons Opticians! 🤩
After starting his optical journey in 1980 at T. H Collison Ltd in Orpington, Mark completed 3 years of training to become a Dispensing Optician. He qualified top of his class, receiving two awards, one of which was the Clement Clarke 'Best Day Release Student' award! 🥇
He later completed his Advanced Dispensing (Hons) Degree whilst working as the Practice Manager of T. H Collison in Langley. 👓
Mark has enjoyed a varied optical career, working at multiple T. H Collison practices across the South of England, as well as several hospitals too. Over time, his role grew organically into the Area Manager of 7 Sussex practices. 🕶️
Mark also visited the Falkland Islands to provide dispensing services and support an ophthalmologist in the provision of optical care to the islanders! ✈️
His day to day role changed during COVID, with T. H Collison Ltd reducing services available to meet the necessary guidelines, although Mark continued his dedication to his patients by delivering spectacles and contact lenses to those who couldn't get to the practices during those difficult times.
Following the sad passing of director Brian Collison in 2023, the T. H Collison practices merged into one central Collisons location in Worthing under new owner Jim Green.
Collisons relocated into a newly refurbished larger premises in the town centre in 2025, where Mark has continued his role of Practice Manager ever since, providing his ongoing dispensing expertise to the local community. 🤓
We'd like to thank Mark for his unwavering dedication to Collisons Opticians over so many years of devoted service. We'll be forever grateful for the knowledge, humour and kindness he brought to the role and he'll be well and truly missed by all of the team 💙
