We wanted to thank Worthing Wellbeing Walks for supporting West Sussex Mind and choosing us as one of their charities at their recent Quiz night, raising £175.

This money will support us to help fund mental health services throughout West Sussex.

Thank you to Lamorna and the team, we had a wonderful evening 💙

Liz, who manages our parenting service, offers some advice for young people who may be receiving their GCSE results today.

This can be a stressful time for young people for many reasons - anxiety, fear of judgement, perceived failure or letting other people down - but it's important to remember that you are so much more than your grades.

Please take the time for self-care and be kind to yourselves 💜

Yesterday's events near Shoreham Port are truly tragic and we know that they will have a profound effect on the community, reminding us of the different ways in which loss and trauma can affect everyone.

Our thoughts are with those who lost their lives in this family tragedy, their surviving daughter and everyone who has been affected at this sad time 💙

You can vote for us at:
• Tesco Extra, Holmbush Centre, BN43 6TD
• Tesco Express, 225 Upper Shoreham Road, BN43 6BE

Voting is easy:

West Sussex Mind and Mind in Brighton & Hove are joining forces in an exciting new partnership to strengthen mental health support in Surrey.

The two organisations will work with partners across the health, public and VCSE sectors to explore and address local mental health needs, reduce health inequalities and create new opportunities for support.

One of the first steps in the new partnership is to recruit a new Head of Development and Partnerships for Surrey, hosted by West Sussex Mind, so please look out for the job advert over the next few days.

We also welcome conversations with organisations and partners who share our commitment to improving mental health outcomes for Surrey residents, so that we can work together to make a positive difference.

➡️ Read a joint statement on our website from Kerrin Page and Gillian Unsworth, the two organisations' CEOs, to find out more: https://www.westsussexmind.org/news/2026/new-partnership-for-mental-health-in-surrey

➡️ If you would like to discuss partnership opportunities or learn more about our plans for Surrey, please get in touch by emailing [email protected] in the first instance.

We look forward to building strong and impactful relationships across Surrey in the months ahead 💜💪🏾

Earlier this month, Melanie Allen did an amazing 15,000ft skydive to raise money for West Sussex Mind and Home start Arun Worthing and Adur. She wanted to do something outside her comfort zone to fundraise for two charities who she says have "helped massively in my parenthood journey during some of my darkest parenting days when I was struggling with postnatal depression and anxiety, and for the support my family still receives now." 💙

We salute Mel's bravery and her skydiving achievement and thank her wholeheartedly for fundraising for us. So far, she has raised over £1,000 plus Gift Aid for the two charities🙏🏾

She says: "During the build up to the skydive, I felt a lot of different emotions, mainly anxious feelings but also excitement. However, on the day, I was excited and ready to brave the jump, knowing that I had raised over £1000 and that money is going to help other families the way it has helped mine.

"But I also felt incredibly proud of myself for doing something new, something for myself and something way out of my comfort zone. Doing the jump has made me realise I am able to do new things that I wouldn’t normally do and be able to enjoy myself whilst doing it!"

Bravo Mel! 🥳

Mel's fundraising page is still open if you would like to donate: https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/18061/15000ft-skydive-for-west-sussex-mind-and-home-star/

Imagine if every hospitality worker felt confident recognising the signs that someone might be struggling.

Pubs, cafés, restaurants and hotels are often places where people connect, open up and seek a break from life's challenges. As highlighted by Su***de First Aid UK, hospitality workers are uniquely placed to notice when someone may be experiencing emotional distress and to offer support or signposting at a crucial moment.

So that staff feel equipped to respond safely and compassionately, West Sussex Mind offers Su***de First Aid Training.

This training helps participants:
• Recognise signs of suicidal ideation and emotional distress
• Start supportive conversations with confidence
• Respond appropriately and safely
• Help connect people with further support

Training is available in two formats:
Full-Day Session – comprehensive coverage with practical exercises
Half-Day Lite Course – a concise introduction to su***de prevention, with tools to help keep someone safe

Don't just take our word for it, here's what a previous participant had to say:
"Some of the best training I've attended. There was only an hour but the subject was covered in depth without being overwhelming, and the emphasis was on learning practical skills that could be used and I now feel far more confident in my approach."
